The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

You completely missed my point.

Certain types of guns should be illegal. The Government cannot take away guns completely (not without wiping out the 2nd Amendment), but they are certainly allowed to regulate what kinds of guns people can have.

You completely missed my point. By consenting to the government making a gun illegal, you are consenting to the government making a gun illegal. It doesn't matter how much lipstick you use; a pig is still a pig.

Are nuclear warheads illegal? Are bazookas illegal? Are high end military grade guns illegal?

Certain guns are illegal. You cannot own any gun that is fully automatic, unless it was made prior to 1986. Starting to regulate semi-automatic guns is absolutely the wrong direction to go.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Doing something just for the sake of doing something is completely pointless. I would much rather have the government figuring out a balanced budget or actually trying to improve the economy than wasting time pushing some bull**** gun bill that is at the bare minimum misguided, and surely will have zero effect on anything except to further limit the rights of law-abiding citizens.

So let's just give up and not even try? Sorry, I'm not French.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

My qualification was dozens of people at a time (read: 2-3 minutes). And yes, if hammers began to be used to kill dozens of people at a time, then good riddance.

And I'll ask you as well...should I be allowed to have a nuclear weapon?
Sure, go ahead and buy a nuke. You'd look good with it.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Sure. Try. You can try to drive across the ocean in a Volvo too, it will be just as successful. What is the point of spending time and money on something that won't work?

We need to attempt to do something about the situation. I'm not okay with kids getting blown away by these types of guns. Are you?

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

I love this board so much.

It would be awesome if we could figure out a way of reducing gun violence without screwing over responsible gun owners or sitting here and doing nothing like we've always done because TEH GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO GIT US! But since we can't, I feel we should reference Super Mario Brothers again.

We can't have nice things, can we?

Anytime Shigeru Miyamoto can be referenced the better. :p:D:D

Why does it matter what kind of gun it is, what kind of weapon it is? I wouldn't be ok with it if they used diesel fuel and fertilizer either. My point is, its not "these types of guns" as you put it, it is the fact that we have people out there that want to do this. If they didn't have "these types of guns" they'd use another type of gun, or they'd make pipe bombs, or they'd poison a batch of food. Its not the guns, it is the fact that people are ****ed up.

Sooner or later, people will be carrying around wood branches with tines, similar to the ones you see in the movie Braveheart, because knives are illegal.

Are you okay with people making pipe bombs, or poisoning a batch of food? My point is the current way that these crazies are killing people are using these types of guns. If we regulate these guns and they then move on to building their own pipe bombs, I would be okay with regulating pipe bombs. If they then went on to poisoning large quantities of food, I would be okay with regulating poisons/having stricter food inspections. Unless you can come up with a way that will eliminate the crazies, you have to restrict the means that they use. If that means that little Johnny can't get his AR-15 for Christmas next year, at least he will be alive to enjoy what he does get.

I am not going to read 5 pages of this...but I will post what TDS had last night :)

Maybe it is time that guns werent treated like endangered species and were actually, ya know, regulated! That information is frightening...

Well, have fun regulating/restricting everything. It will sure be fun when I have to wait 4 hours at Home Depot for a background check because I want to fix some plumbing at home.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

One thing I dislike is the constant insinuation we hear that if you favor gun liberty, you must be in favor of mass murder. Really, the only people who hunt or shoot are mass murderers or sympathizers? I call BS.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

And if that meant no more mass murder, would you be okay with that?

A dude with quick wrists could stick the thing into the neck, pull it out, and stick it into about neck in the course of 3 seconds. Times 24 people, that's 72 seconds, which is under 3 minutes, uh oh, we have to ban wood now.

If you did the plumbing right the first time, it wouldn't have to be fixed. ;)
