I wonder if Gonzales is one of the ones who is (allegedly) threatening to quit if they oust Johnson. On Gaetz's podcast he and Anna Paulina Luna said that while they support ousting Johnson if they did there would be resignations guaranteeing Speaker Jeffries. Gaetz said flat out some of his fellow GOPers have been bribed to screw over the far right wing.
This is not just about Gaetz and some 17 year old hookers he paid through Venmo...there has to be something else he doesn't want out there because he almost got in fights on the floor when McCarthy was running the first time for Speaker, then he was a leader in the effort to remove him and now he is not only threatening to get rid of another Speaker (one who tried to help steal the election) but is now accusing his fellow Caucus members of being bribed to screw over the Party.
Here is the thing, there is a lot of GOPers who I despise because of their policies and the stupid stuff they say...and even they are done with the Gaetz/MTG wing of the party. (like Representative Pirate) I would bet a lot of money that Johnson cut a deal with the Dems and some of the non-ubercrazies (the ones who admit half the party was bought by Putin) agreed to back it if push came to shove. The Dems may hate Johnson but we can't have another war for the Speaker's Chair and while Jeffries would be an excellent Speaker nothing would get done and the stench of this Congress would loom on him. I think Johnson agreed to back the Ukraine Aid and the Humanitarian Aid and so on so that when/if the Question is called the Dems will keep him in the chair. Its a win/win for them because they got the funding they wanted (which will likely pass the Senate) and Johnson is still the face of one of the worst Congresses of all time.
