The 2024 GQP Thread: Because Deutsche Gopher Fan ENDED the Last One

Yea. Just like the losers on your side who smash bud light cans because it’s gay.

these fandom cults are nuts but at least swifties aren’t shooting people

i 100% believe her voting registration efforts result in a lot more people voting

And as voting patterns established young last a lifetime, driving first time voters into a furious rejection of the GOP will have the greatest net effect over the most elections.

You have to understand that Swifties by definition have extremely low rates of political engagement. Being that hung up on a pop star indicates childish priorities and an insulation from adult reality. So by enraging them and getting them to register, this guy is creating Democratic votes from nothing. These are free votes for us. And every one of them counts just as much as SJHovey's.

The other thing is Dem GOTV nearly always gilds the lily in already blue places, but Swifties are an invasive species EVERYWHERE. This is one of the few ways we can actually mobilize non-trivial numbers of votes in red/purple places. It's free money, and it will affect elections everywhere.

It's a win; the only question is how much will it move the needle? .1% and have no tangible effect or 1% and actually swing an election here or there?

There are A LOT of morons who would never even consider registering and voting. The whole tea party / Dump backlash against The Swamp came from the Right managing to hoodwink some of them. So getting even a tiny slice of them to vote for us counterbalances some of that rightwing lofo effect.

So, Kid Rock is on "my side" now? I have news for you. Kid Rock, and his music, suck too.

But he campaigns for your thugs, and he actually does manage to further their narratives.

You know how this works -- political parties are like any advertised product. You create an image and release it into the world. There are instruments which spread and reinforce that image in the target demos. Kid Rock is certainly not aimed at anybody here or for that matter anybody who has ever (1) held down a job, (2) had a girlfriend, (3) had an original thought. But he does have a demo, and it has been large enough to support him in his career. He reaches, for lack of a better word, "people," and those people are part of the broad mass of human filth that drives rightwing narratives forward and makes them "common sense."

As with him, with Ratface. But Ratface has about 1000x his fanbase.

I am keenly aware that there are people with no skill, talent or otherwise serviceable purpose, who have figured out how to milk the public out of money. I just think that it's a bit of a stretch to suggest that just because a guy with conservative connections tweets that she's dumb and and her music sucks, that suddenly tens of thousands of Democrat voters have been created.

As an FYI, I might be the only poster here with an Taylor Swift autographed piece of memorabilia.

A few years back, when the Bradley Center in Milwaukee was about to be bulldozed, they auctioned off all of their memorabilia. It included a lot of high end items like guitars, etc..., but also some grab bags with only a few things identified to gather some interest. I bought one of the grab bags because in the picture of it there was a North Dakota hockey jersey autographed by the 1997 championship team that won the championship at the Bradley Center. But also in that grab bag was an autographed Milwaukee Buck's jersey by none other than one Ms. Taylor Swift.

Now, I just have to figure out how to turn that into a solid profit from this swarm of Swiftie fans.

But getting caught up on - and diverting attention away from the fact that a political movement is mad at a voter registration drive - is exactly what the right wing does when they don't have a good argument.

Seize on something irrelevant and beat it to death and divert.

That’s why I said the “damage” to the moron running the federalist is exactly that- people freaking voting.

Why would Donnie Trump, America's greatest president and all around stable genius, invite someone who sucks(Kid Rock) to the White House?

I'm not surprised Hovey thinks that article and timing of it is just about her music...

And I'm not surprised you still haven't learned how to read. As I posted earlier, it's all about the clicks. You think they wrote the article to try to convince some 14 year old girl in Des Moines how to vote in four years?

It's the same reason that if you were a sports journalist right now, you'd write a hot take on Deion Sanders. Eyeballs.

I've been meaning to block Nick Adams. He's just another lazy troll desperate for clicks by saying the most asinine thing possible.

It's not just about clicks it's about making their base angry. It's giving them something to point to as "wrong" with America. They can do that by saying she's a scourge to America and writing it's because of her music...
when really we all know it's because she told her fans to go register to vote and most of them are young and they're not going to vote for the GOP.
You really can't be that naive.

Let me ask you this. How exactly do you think they go about making their base angry by writing an article that says TS sucks?

Let's play some Wordle here. I'll help you out.

Feel free to phone a friend for help.

That's the beauty of a story and tweet like that. People who hate TS are going to click on it. TS fans are going to click on it. Heck, even I clicked on it after I saw the posts this morning about this Davis/Swift dispute about which I knew nothing before today.

Maybe you ought to take your own advice and learn how to read jackass...nowhere did I say it wasn't about clicks I said it's not only about clicks... you seem to think that's all it is is clicks but no.
She's been a huge star since basically 2006 but now a GOP leaning site decides to write about how her music sucks and she's the problem with American music?
Again you can't be that naive...

Same way they make their base angry by telling them Anheuser Busch sent a sixpack to a transgender person.

I just think that it's a bit of a stretch to suggest that just because a guy with conservative connections tweets that she's dumb and and her music sucks, that suddenly tens of thousands of Democrat voters have been created.

And that is fair. We will have to see. I would say with 100% certainty this has created somewhere between 1 and 1M new Democratic votes that wouldn't have happened otherwise. The question, how high up in that range will the real number be? Under 10k it won't really matter, at least directly. Over 10k and though it may not matter directly in the voting booth it will actually have an effect on the general, nebulous social view that the GOP is a party of old, angry, foolish, intolerant fuddy duddies who scream "get off my lawn!" and "these GenZers are terrible!" And that crap matters.

As defenders of inequality, racism, and misogyny, the Right starts every conversation for a new voter down by at least a touchdown. They use myths and lies to make up the difference: "fiscal responsibility," "bootstraps," "defend our sniff brave boys sniff," all the usual bullsh-t. And this will fool a decent sized portion of people, particularly those raised in backwards, superstitious environments, or those who are neurologically programmed to be afraid of anyone or anything remotely unfamiliar.

But this just drives the point deficit up a little more. Some now maybe instead of starting behind 7 it's 8.

The point is: it doesn't help. And as the percentage of uneducated white Christofascists shrinks, that hill is that much steeper.

I got this. CLOCKS. Because it will take an eternity before you ever make a point.

I saw the tweet. The tweet said that she's dumb and her music sucks, and linked to The Federalist column on her music written by someone else. The tweet was clickbait, nothing else, and almost certainly worked like a charm.

So, more people are likely to vote because he said she is dumb and her music sucks?

Yeah he got a lot of clicks. He also got a lot of people to get registered to vote who won't vote for anything he likes or cares about. Clickbait only works temporarily, 18 year olds vote for decades.

But tell me again how this is a good strategy.
