The 2018 midterm elections!

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Went to vote just a bit before 4 o'clock. ******y drizzling rain, and outside my polling place, there was only one Republican candidate still standing there welcoming voters, as opposed to five or six Democratic candidates.

Republicans are at the airport...

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

First time voting at my new precinct, so maybe it’s not abnormal, but it’s the first time I’ve ever had to wait to vote. That includes primaries, midterms, and presidential elections.

Only ten minutes for me, but they said the morning was 30 minutes.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

How many issues were reported like this 2 years ago? 4 years ago? Did the age of poll workers accelerate suddenly? Come on.

That's why I'm asking what the core issues on the repetitive problems are.

Is it old poll station workers? Bad tech? Skulduggery? Foreign hackers? Methodists?

I had to wait a little bit for the first time too, but only about 10 minutes or so. Would have been quicker, but which table to go to to check in wasn't clearly marked, and it was set up different in 2016. Definitely more people there though.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Yeah, because we should totally just let everyone know a week or two ahead of an election how we'll let them vote

There's no voter registration in ND, just show up with proper ID.
And the law's been in place for quite a while (and passed judicial challenge).

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

In the last week or two they handed out thousands of qualifying ID's to tribal members who didn't have an id with a residential address on it. But I'm sure someone somewhere is going to claim they got denied, and just didn't have a chance to get one of the ids, or didn't get a chance to get an early ballot, or whatever they want to claim.

Being denied while standing at the polls with the new ID they were given?

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Sure. Far be it for our Republican controlled election committees to provide improper ID's that are needed to be able to vote.

They can vote; there's the set-aside rule in play also.

Jaeger said his office and county auditors have been working to inform tribal leaders about how they can vote. If information on an ID isn’t current, the ID can be supplemented with other documentation, such as a recent utility bill. Voters without the right documentation on Election Day also may cast a ballot that’s set aside and the voter is given a week to provide the documentation, he said.

In Rollette County, which includes the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa reservation near the Canadian border, tribal officials will be at polling places to help any member who does not have a valid ID, said Val McCloud, the county auditor. One could be issued almost immediately, she said.

Davis believes the same is happening on other reservations.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

I've officially voted against Paulsen in every House Election he has been on the ballot. Hopefully this one is the time.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Halfway through the voting line. About 30 minutes in so far.

Longest line I’ve had to wait in the small town of Bar Harbor, ME (although in 2016 i left work and voted in the middle of the day)

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Hopefully everyone knows they can ask for a provisional ballot if not allowed to vote no matter what and if denied report it.

And you wonder why some minorities have given up, deciding that whites just don't want them to vote. But at least you've stopped the pandemic North Dakota voter fraud situation.

Sorry but exactly this behavior by the GOP is just too prevalent in red states throughout the country.

I’m so annoyed. Bought a house in Edina and found out east Edina was annexed to Ellison’s district so I had to vote for Ilhan instead of Phillips

Yep. make 'em jump through hoops to engage in what should be the simplest process in the land. And you don't think that's a problem, since, if they follow every step exactly, and provide every form of identification necessary to prove themselves, they can finally, possibly, be allowed to vote?

So their rights aren't being violated, as they're not being prevented from voting. Just as long as they follow the Rube Goldberg machine put in place.

I think the previous plan was to put the polling place 200 feet underground.

And, just who locates a polling place inside a gated community?
