The 2018 midterm elections!

Honestly, why haven't we banned electronic voting machines yet? Lobbyists for Diebold?

Most likely.

Same reason Diebold petitioned so hard (and was successful) in not opening their proprietary source code for inspection and why there isn't an independent oversight committee to inspect the machines.

But if the voting machines were made by Bally, or any one of these companies, the voting machines would be as tightly scrutinized as any of their gaming machines.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

If there is a residential address on them, or if they have a way to prove their residential address is in the precinct, this is a civil rights violation.

https://vip.sos.nd.gov/idrequirements.aspx

In the last week or two they handed out thousands of qualifying ID's to tribal members who didn't have an id with a residential address on it. But I'm sure someone somewhere is going to claim they got denied, and just didn't have a chance to get one of the ids, or didn't get a chance to get an early ballot, or whatever they want to claim.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Funny. Weren't we told two years ago to just shut up, accept our "L" like adults and move on if we didn't like the results?

What are these GOP snowflakes so afraid of?

Well heck y'all, they'all just got that fancy new-fangled EEEEE-lec-triz-tee just last month down thar-bouts.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

C'mon Onion, fact check and proof your stories:

At press time, a judge had upheld the legality of McDonough’s congressional district, which covers an acre-wide strip of land zig-zagging across the country.

Everyone knows an acre is an area, not something you'd measure a width by like feet or yards. Expect a tDon "fake news" Tweet soon. ;) :D

I early voted (eight days ago) in ND. Paper ballot; fill in the oval. Scan them; rescan them for a recount; hand count as necessary. Hack that.

But to your question, yes, probably some lobbyist or someone legislator's brother-in-law.

What exactly are you focusing on here? Trying not to keep a polling station open later than the rest of the state? This kind of arguing seems to happen semi-regularly, and it seems to me that if those counties didn't help one party, that party would be fighting against it...

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Went to vote just a bit before 4 o'clock. ******y drizzling rain, and outside my polling place, there was only one Republican candidate still standing there welcoming voters, as opposed to five or six Democratic candidates.

This is correct. There was a big push on the reservations to get qualifying IDs out.

And the tribes claiming "no street addresses on the reservations" as why no street address on tribal ID's was hokum. The ND statewide 911 system has a street address for every square foot of the state.

Candidates? At polling stations? I didn't think that was allowed.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

This one's for you Hovey: Tribal IDs not accepted in Standing Rock ND

Other "hiccups" include - 4.5 hour lines b/c machines malfunctioning in GA; Voters wrongly being asked for ID in MO; 300,000 inactive voters in AL; Ballot scanners not working in NC; Polling sites opened late in AZ

Would like to share but source?

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

At your polling station, who was running it?

I'd say "geriatric" would describe what I saw, and that was an early voting station a week ago. I can't imagine what's out there at all those stations today.

Is that part of our election day issues? We have the not-exactly-tech-savvy generation trying to run polling station with modern voting equipment?

Is part of it lack of training (see: asking for ID not required)?

Seems like the same issues ad infinitum, ad nauseum, year after year.

Got to love conservatives. The chances of anyone conducting voter fraud in ND is zero. But still, its on the NA population that they can't vote because of their addresses.

Oh and BTW, its been reported that NAs have been turned away because of inaccuracies on these 'free IDs'. Thanks...I guess.

How many issues were reported like this 2 years ago? 4 years ago? Did the age of poll workers accelerate suddenly? Come on.

Yeah, because we should totally just let everyone know a week or two ahead of an election how we'll let them vote
