Likely next page, we'll be making "the switch", where the reverse is listed.

Re: The 2018-19 Schedules Thread

UMD's official schedule was released yesterday. Everything confirmed what we already knew but it said the Desert Hockey Classic will be at the Gila River Arena in Glendale.

Re: The 2018-19 Schedules Thread

Does anyone know when the tournament matchups will be set? Is there a specific reason behind this I'm wondering?

Re: The 2018-19 Schedules Thread

The non-conference schedules are just about there. Here's what I see that's left that we don't know about:

AIC - 1 game
USMA - 2 games
CHC - 2 games
SHU - 2 games
Canisius - 2 games

Harvard - 1 game
Union - 5 games

BU - 1 game
UCONN - 3 games
Providence - 3 games

Notre Dame - 5 games

Denver - 2 games
UNO - 6 games
SCSU - 2 games (permitted, but SCSU is at 35 total games)

Have to think SHU and UCONN would have at least one game based on nutmeg love (or Constitution love if you like official things ;) ). Gotta think Union will have a western series; they went to Omaha last year, so I would expect UNO at Union to be a thing. UNO and ND had a series last year at ND; perhaps a reciprocal is coming. DU and ND also had a series that needs reciprocating, so that will probably complete out things there. The single game for ND is a bit baffling since BC is going there; maybe one of the AHA teams is doing a one-and-done.

Re: The 2018-19 Schedules Thread

Thanks much, you're in.

BTW, have any of you figured out a pattern on the extra conference games, or is it a random draw?

I have not found a pattern...nor have I found a pattern for home/away...

I have looked specifically at RIT in more detail, starting with 2014-2015 (when this scheduling started) through 2018-2019's released schedule.
We have only played Army 2 times per season - never 4. (10 games over the 5 seasons)
We have played Robert Morris 4 times in four seasons and only played them 2 times in one season. (18 games over the 5 seasons). Canisius (the closest school to us...) is the opposite - Played them 4 times in 1 season, 2 times each in the other four years.
All of the other teams are in the middle.

For teams that we only play twice, it seems not to not swap home/away each year like I'd expect - The two seasons we played Niagara only twice, both times were AT Niagara. We did not play at Canisius last year, and won't this year either.

So I'm not sure what the league is doing here...

Re: The 2018-19 Schedules Thread

I think this is right. I was told that there is a 10 year rotation.
In 10 years, each team will play Team A:
4 years : 4 times
3 years : 2 times at home
3 years : 2 times away

I don't know if there is a rhyme or reason which 4 teams in each year. Doing the math 10 Choose 4 as a combination gives me 210 combinations.

It may be 10 random schedules that meet these overall requirements, then each year is picked randomly. For example, AIC has had Sacred Heart visit us for 2 games three years in a row, so we should have exhausted that option. So, one way or another, we should visit them for 7 straight years, until the AHA gets another team and a schedule change happens.

I had thought about the 10 year as well and started to try to keep track of it, but there wasn't a pattern, like the western leagues.

Re: The 2018-19 Schedules Thread

Ok, the 10 year pattern did not work. AiC has hosted Sacred Heart for two games 4 years in a row. Someone important thinks it is a 12 year rotation, which could be valid.

I can't believe a league would set up a 12-year rotation when leagues can't even stay the same for four years straight... But, for that reason, it's probably true. :D
