Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

So then that must not have been you sitting behind me at LaBahn last season. :)

Actually the last couple of years at LaBahn we have met nothing but great people. It was the years when W was defending & mostly the ones that trekked to Ridder.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

Being a fan is not about being correct.

I'm a fan win or lose. I want it to be the Gophers who rip T3's heart out but I think things are fated to feed that heart to a badger. I hope I am wrong but life has trained me to expect disappointment.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

I think the weekend will belong to Wisconsin, and it's primarily based on goaltending. ARD is controlling the game, and it's going to be hard for any team to overcome how well she's playing right now. If anyone can do it, it would be Minnesota, and I think once again the championship winner will be determined Friday night.

I just don't see BC completing their run. The pressure of trying to go undefeated, matched up with them facing their 2 most difficult opponents of the year by far doesn't seem like a recipe for victory to me. I think BC probably gets the win Friday - although if they were the late game, I could easily see them starting to look ahead to UW/UM too soon and overlook a strong Clarkson. Without that though, I think BC gets a lead and Clarkson just doesn't have the firepower to catch up.

On a positive note, if anyone knows how to deal with a team trying to become just the 2nd in their sports history to go undefeated for the season, only to fall short in the championship, it should be Boston fans.

When the Gophers were at LaBahn during the 2014-2015 season, there were these three or four guys sitting a couple rows behind me; every time there was a penalty call on a Badger player, they would go into this really fairly long recitation as loudly as they could that started out something like "You, sister, are a very bad player..." and ended with "...and now you must sit."

(Is that any sort of regular Minn "cheer"?)

I wanted to turn around and say "are you for real? These are twenty year old kids playing a damm game. Lighten up, and shut the eff up!" But I was trying to watch the game.

If they made the return trip this year, either they did shut up, or they sat somewhere else.

Just be glad we didn't use the version they say at the Gopher men's games. :p

"You sister, you're outta here! You do not play hockey well and now you have to sit!" I have heard that at various mens games at several schools although it ends less politely. I would never do that in someone elses place but would expect it from the locals if I were in their place. I don't think it is any worse than the sieve thing.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

IIRC, it was two or three times longer than that. More in the middle, though (thankfully) I don't recall what.

(I'm not a fan of "sieve", particularly at womens' games. But it is at least short, over with more quickly. And I sure as heck wouldn't sit in the middle of Ridder or Mariucci and chant sieve.)

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

Help an old guy out here......this is the cost of one year's attendance at these schools? Seriously?
Cost of Attendance from each school's web page:
Minnesota $35,704, Wisconsin $48,092, BC $65,802, Clarkson $64,638

we're not Harvard, but we cost as much

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

Ok here is my thoughts for what it is worth.
MN needs to beat WI for various reasons most of which has to do with the rivalry between the two states in many areas.
BC needs to beat Clarkson for one reason, if BC is going to have a undefeated season and be the second team to have a undefeated season they need to go through the first team (and only team) to have a undefeated season.

At least that is a terminal cheer. When BC takes a penalty, the BC fans / band, launch into a sweatlodge type moan for the duration of the penalty. Sounds like they all have a hangover.

You get what you pay for :D

you MN people keep boasting that you get all of the best players from MN every year. that's the reason the figure is the lowest. it's based on geographical area of the player's home.
if you get all of the players from MN the team cost figure is going to be lower.

you people from MN kill me. you keep finding any little thing to complain about.
why can't you just be happy with you're great team, its huge following and great attendance numbers at home. it's something that every East team wish they had.

anyway, good luck this weekend to all 4 teams.

The men's version is "You buddy, your'e outta here, ya hack! You suck, you worthless piece of ****! It is less polite, but it rolls of the tongue easier.;)

my apologies... i believe the poster got the information wrong. the NCAA allows each school to give athletes a "Cost of Attendance" stipend...if that's the correct word...it is based on how far they are from the school. Ex; a player going to BC
that lives in CA will get more than a player that lives in MA. this skews the number for the scholarship if a school, like UM, has lots of local state players.

i'm a bit slow this week, it took me a couple of reads to see the poster had it wrong. sorry.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

As to the last poll option--

Cost of Attendance from each school's web page:
Minnesota $35,704, Wisconsin $48,092, BC $65,802, Clarkson $64,638

I looked at the official school websites for undergraduate admissions and the cost calculations I believe are coming from there although there is a little more info. The non resident numbers match for UM and UW but I was not able to match numbers for BC and Clarkson with what I found.

UM - In-state and reciprocity 25,784 Non resident 35,704
UW - Wisconsin resident 25,242 Non resident 48,902 Minn resident 28,509
Clarkson - Cost to US citizen 60,688 International 63,012
bc - Cost to US citizen 62,820 International 69,963

Not sure what specifically is a "Minnesota" thing there and I believe joecct was half jokingly providing data for someone who may chose the last entry in the poll options.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

Thanks Five Hole for confirming the numbers....no wonder all the kids are looking to vote for Bernie.....
Very impressed watching the videos for the WCHA games with the attendance! I relize that we might have a few more options to offer to the general public but the schools have done a fantastic job in marketing the team and keeping you fans involved with the teams.....SO jealous! I do honestly hope you're all heading East this weekend. As I've mentioned before it's a secret that Durham is hosting a National Championship this weekend around here....ie., this morning on the local radio station for IHeart Radio, that is their #1 show East of the Mississippi, that broadcasts from Portsmouth (10 miles from Durham), that covers from the Canadian border to RI, Vermont to the Seacoast, whose host is a HUGE UNH men's hockey fan, was told today during the show by a guest that Durham is hosting the Women's FF!! Point made???
