Didn't they consider Colgate to be a cupcake a few years back?

Link to this year's spreadsheet, additions and corrections appreciated: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v8k8VHp97h_50aQoHxfJel2Zs3f_tz77Q7ZMgxNKZyI/

KNOWN SCHEDULES: (minus exhibitions)

Bemidji State (released, 2 games behind allotment - darn WCHA reformat )

BSU will never go over 36 games, even if they can play 38 and the WCHA schedule wasn't condensed. Coach Serratore feels the bye week that they would lose is more important for the health of the team than a 37th and 38th game.

Here we go again...

And given WCHA now has one less week to get the games in, the chances are even slimmer, which was the point of the tongue-in-cheek. I would explain it relative to your case, but I was told there'd be no math. :p However, given how my team performed last year when we had two extra games from the Brice Goal Rush, I'm not surprised in the least that you wouldn't want to have that many games.

After scheduling 38 games in 13-14 —*and taking on NTDP U-18 on what would've been an off weekend —*Mike Corbett has sworn off of that for the same reason.

Almost no one schedules games 37 & 38, for the very reasons Ernie won't schedule them for Bemidji. And if you do schedule 37 & 38, will you be lucky enough to find someone willing to to an even swap of games? WCHA teams are having a hard enough time trying to fill 36 games. Michigan Tech will play 38 this year. Guess how many of those 10 non conference games will be in Boughton? Zero! And the fact that nearly all other teams outside the WCHA can only play 34, that limits the availability of opponents to choose from for those extra two games.

BGSU had 38 last year--19 home with, 19 on the road...
but I'm with Serratore, a bye is better.

2 of those series are paying off the past ill-planned 2-for-1s to MiSU and UMi. 2 more are the first leg of 1-for-1 agreements, so there will be return trips. The other is GLI, which doesn't really count either way.

A part of me wanted to reference the 2-for-1 debacle for the Ferris State listing, but with UMAA already full, not technically just to them (despite us being a victim of their 2-for-1 crud). Also, don't you guys host the GLI, making it technically "home" matches? Granted I don't know how that translates in terms of the gate...

BG doesn't travel as far as most everyone else does, especially with the farthest NC tilts being Canisius/RIT. Having those long-time series with the local schools really helps (and I think all WCHA fans are happy that you have those ties).

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

This is not set in stone but LSSU will most likely have a Canadian exhibition game on October 1 and then a non-conference series on October 7-8. Things are being finalized at the moment. A press release will be sent out when finalized.

Yes, we host the GLI, I'm not sure how the gate money is handled though. I'm sure Michigan gets some kind of cut.

Tech is THE host. Ann Arbor is CoHost and State is a permanent invitee. Not sure if they get a cut or an "appearance" fee. Still the best Holiday Tiurney. Hope the all Michigan trend or all Mich + maybe BG or Notee Dame from time to time.

No **** Tech is the host. That is what i said.

All Michigan GLI ****ing sucks. Takes the tourney from an awesome national tournament to a boring Michigan tournament.

Beanpot West? *ducks*

I know I enjoyed going to the GLI when RPI was in it.

While I do share your loathing of the Ann Arbor institution, there probably wouldn't have been a GLI were it not for the legendary Tech coach who was a Michigan alum, and his cohorts from Ann Arbor. Just curious, did you ever meet that coach that built the Husky program?

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Bentley has the following, some still tentative...

At UNH
Home/home with NU
At UVM

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

I am told that there will still likely be some tweaks to the WCHA schedule. No opponent or site switches, just a few date changes.

I don't care for the all Michigan tournament either. I don't think State should be an auto invite every year, but that isn't going to change because of the huge Michigan rivalry and the gate it brings,(don't they play each other enough during regular season).
It seems like when the Gophers went to an all Minnesota tournament GLI followed suit. Now it's more regional instead of National as bb-dl states in the comments.
Invite State every 2nd or 3rd year.😉

To be fair, how many of the smaller schools in Michigan and Minnesota were peeved about how the formation of the Big Roll-a-D20 meant they weren't going to get gate money from getting the respective UM at home at least every other year?
