The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

"The WCHA schedule will remain at 28 league games for the 2016-17 campaign, with the regular season concluding the weekend of Feb. 24-25."
from WCHA.com

Something tells me, with this, we're going to see a few more "short of full allotment" schedules this year. Not really from unwillingness to play, but when the heck are they going to fit it in?

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Not sure how the will impact home/away splits yet, but Frozen Fenway will be
BC-PC, BU-UMA on January 7
Maine-UConn, UNH-NU January 14

Even though schedules have already been released, Hockey East is asking other conference teams to reschedule games on those dates to highlight the games at Fenway. That might be possible on the 7th, but good luck getting Notre Dame to reschedule the series at Merrimack. BC-BU and UVM-PC are also scheduled for series that weekend. The only dates that would fit for a reschedule would be 12/16-17. The Lowell-UMA game scheduled for the 14th will likely be rescheduled to the 13th (both teams are off).

None of this is official yet.

What is official is that the second UNH-Maine non-conference game planned for Portland has been canceled, so you can take that off the schedule. Maine now has Brown and Quinnipiac (2) to host and two unknown NC games.
Also, one of the Boston College games will be moved to Portland. They have not announced which.

I thought I read, from another poster's Facebook page, that it would be the Saturday game in order to account for handegg (more the traffic than the game itself)?

That was my thought as well. However, a source up at Orono says the athletic department resources would be stretched if they hosted a football game in Orono and a hockey game in Portland. Many people staff both teams when they play home games.

Looks like the Christmas break will be one week shorter.

Depending on the team, you have to be careful with that, because the NCAA mandates a maximum of 26 official weeks for ice hockey, with one allowed break in schedule (usually used around Christmas). Obviously this works for most teams because they are mandated by the official NCAA start date. The only teams in question that may start before the official start date are the Alaska teams, but they must make up for it with extra break weeks. Also, that gets thrown out the window if an international exhibition tour is done (maximum of once every four years, naturally).

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

So...Tech just sent out a tweet. Not the schedule, but it listed the opponents for next season, including a surprise. Non conference teams listed: Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota-Duluth, Notre Dame, GLI.

Not sure if Tech is just playing Notre Dame, or if it is 1 or 2 games, or if it is in a tournament...

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Not sure, but it does happen every few years with NoDak that BSU ends up over there for two. They must be hurting for money or something....... :)

Pretty sure that's true. You'd be shocked at how expensive marble floor maintenance is.

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Dartmouth released their schedule: http://www.dartmouthsports.com/Spor...OEM_ID=11600&DB_OEM_ID_0_=11600&Q_SEASON=2016

Interestingly, this seems to mark a change from ECACHL schedules of the past. It was always that who you played on Friday night would alternate with the other travel partner for home and away. This time however, Dartmouth has Princeton on Friday home and away (instead of say, Princeton home Friday, Quinnipiac away Friday), Colgate on Fridays, Brown on Fridays.

So unless Dartmouth is wrong, a lot of the series in the Google doc need to be flipped - I'm bummed because it means both Harvard-Cornell games are on Fridays and I definitely can't get to either.

Edit: As Ralph said below, Dartmouth is most likely wrong.

Interesting that they play the two opponents each weekend in alphabetical order. :D

This disagrees with every other ECAC team schedule which I have seen and the league schedule which includes all but games against travel partners. I.e., Dartmouth messed up.
