Such an amazing stat. Gotta be the first time this has ever happened?

Does Dave Starman scare anyone else?

Like, in an "I'm scared that bodies are hidden under his floor boards" sort of way.

Love his analysis of the game, think he does a great job breaking it down. But I've always thought he looks like a vampire.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Mankato is the #1 seed they should get the easiest path. UND is the #2 seed they should get to play QU in the first round.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

In my opinion that was a nice love letter the NCAA gave to North Dakota. Quinnapiac with a banged up goalie. Face the winner of a team one game above .500 and a team that is in the tournament for the first time since 1981. Mankato also got a soft path.

Isn't the UND AD the selection committee chair?

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

You put the NorEast bracket in South Bend, I'd be there. Boston flights too expensive.

Check out Southwest flights into Manchester and Providence while still available. No need to fly into Boston.

Yes, all 10 fans that will make the trip. You think actual attendance at the Joe this weekend was bad? The pictures of an empty Compton Family Arena will rival that of the B1GMistake. Sure, those seats have been sold but actual attendance?

It is going to be funny when they announce a near sellout to an empty rink though.

I would not be surprised to see a full rink of fans with RIT bringing the most. 3 teams are within an 8 hour drive for late Saturday games. Omaha, Mankato and RIT are about equidistant, a little over 500 miles each. Many Harvard fans can afford to fly. Had they switched Minny for the Crimson it would have become a tough ticket as they only seat about 5000.

He might be great within the NCHC but him on the selection show felt very homerish.

Mankato also got a soft path.

FWIW, UNO split early in the season with the Purple Cows and led much of the game they lost to them.

That's getting ahead of things, though. UNO needs to beat Harvard, first, a team UNO has never beaten in two prior meetings, all time, both in Omaha, in December of 1998, at the old Omaha Civic Auditorium.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Providence certainly got the best deal. They play at home vs. the lowest #1 seed.
A little strange that second #2 gets #13, #3 gets #14, and #4 gets #15.

To put it into more stark terms for Providence Region: #1 seed travels a 1000 miles, #2 seed travels 2000 mile, #3 seed travels 50 miles and the #4 seed travels 2 blocks.

I don't mind you using my posts from MHT for board fodder here...but maybe some credit would be nice.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

From the flip side on Miami, they're likely missing their top two goal scorers and they're going to get to play likely the most offensively-challenged team in the field that isn't RIT.

What in the world are you talking about? RIT is 14th in scoring nationally and has three players in the top 15 in points (2 in the top 10 in goals). There are several tournament teams with much less offense.

RIT is good but they should be beaten by Mankato.

Actually got that in an email from my old professor a little while ago. You can have all the credit if he got it from you some how. I am still p*ssed.

Can I ask a question? 1) what is MHT? 2) what did Miami ever do to Starman-- pee in his Cheerios?

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

To put it into more stark terms for Providence Region: #1 seed travels a 1000 miles, #2 seed travels 2000 mile, #3 seed travels 50 miles and the #4 seed travels 2 blocks.

And those 2 blocks are far more dangerous to travel. If Miami is as good as they think they are, they should be thrilled to get the #15 seed instead of #13 Yale or #14 Quinnipiac that would bring much more and much louder fans than PC. Don't forget the Q is not far from Providence either. No matter what, the winner of the Providence region does not have to play either North Dakota or BU until the championship in Boston, so that is a plus as well. If anything I would say Quinnipiac got the worst deal having to go to Fargo instead of Providence instead of saying PC got the best deal.

If you can find an objective way to control for that factor in evaluating whether a team is "offensively challenged" or not, I'm all ears. Otherwise, it's absurd to claim RIT has the worst offense in the field.

sure, playing an easy schedule inflates players stats, and playing a really hard schedule reduces them. I would expect Eichel would have 10-15 or more points if he had played that schedule.
