THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

The call in overtime was weak, especially when they let a lot of things go in regulation. That said, Clay should have had a wrist shot from the point with no bu traffic in front.

Why was Cameron Voss involved in any way with this game?

I don't remember much of the play where the call occurred, only that the BU forward had gotten a step around the NU defender and it looked like there was some kind of stick contact. Whether it's a penalty, I don't know, I haven't seen a replay. I don't really buy the it's a call in OT but not regulation stuff, but you're 100% right that this type of play (from what I remember of it) was NOT established through the game as a call. Cameron Voss is a disgrace to officiating, he's absolutely terrible. Up there with Conrad Hache for the worst officials I've ever seen. Voss should've been nowhere near this game.

That said, how in the world is that not a crease violation on NU's third goal?

Looks like someone will have to go out on a stretcher to get a call in this one.

Well this post sure is amusing in hindsight.
I made that post after the Smatzula breakaway attempt in the first period. He was hooked (slightly) and then cross checked from behind which sent him down. He went head first into the boards hard. The ref never even flinched. I was shocked there was no call, especially it being a scoring chance.

Then again, I follow BC, so I'm a bit cynical... refs would have found a way to send three Eagles to the box on that play. ;)

I have no opinion on the rest of the game... I fell asleep. :p

Defkit, BU ONLY scores on 25% of power plays? Last time i checked that was a pretty good percentage!

Well Northeastern has a 25% chance of winning the Beanpot every year, but they're 0 for their last 27.

I'm sorry you can't make that call in OT.

As always my problem w HE refs (beyond being consistently atrocious, see: Friday night UML / BC game which was the worst I've seen all year) is the in game inconsistency. Just look at stream of posts within this thread. From "Guess you have to kill someone to get a penalty" to a soft (questionable?) call in OT.

Anyway NU fans you were louder, and we all know that's what really matters.

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

On the joke penalty call: The problem is they had established all game that this was going to be a "look the other way" type game. Teams got away with murder. NU with a possible goalie interference call on their 3rd goal, Szmatula was assaulted on his breakaway with no call etc. Then 9 seconds into OT you decide to gain a conscience. I'm sorry, you set a standard for the game and stick to it. That was a BS call after all they let go away for 60 minutes. Guess that new officiating chief didn't do ****.

Ordinarily, I'm not a big Dale Arnold fan, but I was very happy that Tom Caron is in Florida with the Sox.

Whoever is responsible for those Kars for Kids ads should do time.

Re: THE 2015 BEANPOT.. ain't no deflate-gate

BS call or not, NU was buzzing and had all the momentum so kill the stupid penalty. That's what I fully expected would happen. Or even a SHG. The penalty didn't empty half your bench or put your goalie in the box or make your team play blindfolded.

Did you not watch this? I've watched this at least a dozen times now and I can't see where you think there is a crease violation.

Anybody criticizing the OT penalty which I admit may be up for some criticism has to possibly question the validity of NU's 3rd goal when NU #47 checked a Terrier into O'Connor. We see goal reviews all the time when we can't figure out why they are reviewing it, but a scrum in front of the goalie doesn't even get a look?

Where were the BU students last night? Northeastern had TEN sections (309-318), but BU filled just three. Weather? Exams? Apathy?
