great shot of the darou goal there. certainly wasn't interference as somerby is fumbling around with the puck. if anything, that's all on him as he needs to be more aware of what the hell is going on around him. if you're gonna fumble around with the puck right in front of your net at least know who might be around you from the other team. and it wasn't much of a cross check either, more of a shove (which i don't believe is a penalty). so if i were a BU fan, i'd be more upset with how somerby played that rather than looking for a bail out call.

I think BU was gassed at the end of their shift. They couldn't get the puck out of the zone. Good shift by NU on the tying goal, and a terrible one by BU.

Don't apologize. It was a heartbreaking loss. I just feel saying that the call was weak is, well, weak. Doesn't matter. Get mad you were called for a stupid penalty that shouldn't have been called and show everyone it didn't matter and kill it.

I'm confused why Benning is NHL drafted. I've yet to see anything out of him that says pro.

ha, i need a breakdown from the nerds on weighted percentages or something to give a true % based on the teams they have fielded rather than the fact they have simply been in the beanpot every year.

oh, and obviously NU TRIED to kill the penalty. it's not like they gave up the goal on purpose to have a built in excuse. they have a right to be upset.

Admin at nu gave away free tickets to high school kids in exchange for them applying so nu can go up in us news rankings :)

NU is a reach for most of those kids. They are counting on bu to be their SAFETY SCHOOL.:D

Hadn't seen that vine, I'll give you that, amazing they all stayed out of the crease - old terminology. That said, the check of Somerby into O'Connor was a bit questionable. I did read many accounts from the media that Hickey's back check on the NU breakaway was clean, and honestly it looked in real time like it was.

The officiating all around was horrible, Voss should not be doing these games (I'd argue he shouldn't be reffing period.) That said, you guys got away with a few things here and there too that weren't called. You had three PPs and got zilch. That was only our second call of the night and the first was abbreviated so it's not like BU was getting a parade of calls in their favor.

To the guy who asked about tickets, Agganis claimed weeks ago they were sold out of student tickets, so I don't know what the deal was there. Also, reported attendance was <15K, but a friend tried to walk up to the box office last night and buy one and was told they were sold out, so who knows.

I always liked chanting safety school at BC and Harvard. Confused the fudge out of them. Classic.

If that wasn't the most tightly contested Beanpot of all time, it's got to be close. 3 OT games, including one that went 2 OT, plus a one-goal game decided in the last 90 seconds....doesn't get much better than that. That was college hockey at its best.

I love when the refs get blamed for a games outcome which get a lifers and cry babies like Westy do all the time. There are 100 plays,calls or decisions in the course of 60 or more minutes that decides a game and it goes both ways. One call or play doesn't decide a game unless it's throwing on the one yard line. 😃

Madigan had every right (and even an obligation) to do that, considering the circumstances. DQ would have done the same or worse. Can you even imagine the explosion that would have occurred if JP was coaching?

The problem for him is, it was a 10-minute game misconduct, so the league now has the ability to review tape and assess a suspension as a result of the penalty if it so chooses.

Trust me, sudden changes in the penalty standard, especially in OT, only happen when the Supervisor of Officials comes into the refs room during the period break and basically orders the crew to tighten things up.
