The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

I had the distinct pleasure of sitting behind a Harvard fan whose exuberance never waned even as the score reached 6-0. Guy next to me asked him who he was rooting for. After he replied 'Harvard'. The response 'So you're the one'.

Has the Donato watch begun yet?

Good effort by BU tonight. Small consolation against a very impressive opponent

If BC plays like they did tonight, NU will definitely have a shot next Monday. Hard to know what to think about the NU game since Harvard isn't very good and the entire game was special teams. Roy looked more engaged than he has in a month and Ferriero was pretty effective in his return. Witt vs. Demko will be fun.

BC has seven sections. BU has two and a quarter.

What's going on here??!

Hey hey now... 2 of those 7 sections only looked like they were half filled with BC kids!

Attendance under 15k tonight... I remember a time when every beanpot game was a sellout without exception.

In fairness, the old Garden had three thousand less seats. Tonight's games would have been a sellout there.

But you're right. This is the least public interest in a Beanpot that I can remember. Probably due to BU's off year.

These games are never easy no matter the record of the teams. BU played great which you can't say for the other school in the other game. I was tense until the ENG sealed the deal.

Next Monday night will be a real war on the ice. I will wear my jersey and my brother his NU jersey. His daughter is a BU grad and our other brother a NU grad too. They will be ganging up on me for this one )

We'd all appreciate if you just started rooting for BC.

No clue why he wasn't fired a couple of years ago. Just a miserable team year in and year out.

Very impressive effort by BU, certainly didn't loook like a team that has won 1 game since Thanksgiving.

very disappointing showing by fanboy nation

So Goudreau is a lock for the Hobey, right?

yes

NU would have won (decisively) in 2011, and maybe last year, if it had a legitimate D1 goaltender. Now it has one. Really!

Quite a lot of speculation among writers on Twitter that he'll be canned after the season. Makes you wonder if his son will stick with his commitment.

Harvard doesn't fire coaches. They'll be some sort of settlement where he can leave on good terms and without animosity. Last night's game probably was the straw that broke the camel's back. The team basically quit on him - never seen a Harvard team act like they didn't care at all about the final score. There is zero accountability and the players know it.

Watching on tape again.. even when they cut to him in the locker room.. he (Donato) himself looked lost when he spoke to the team. There was no conviction in what he was saying. The way he was coached.. times have changed.. its not the way these kids (are), need to be coached today.

I think Sneddon may think about it hard.. if asked. All the best.

This tournament has struggled to maintain its relevance IMO. In part because BU had dominated it for so long. BC is now the culprit.
