The 2013 New England Patriots

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

What makes them guilty is the "throw down" ball :)

Kept one legal to toss in the game if the refs questioned a softie ;)

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Pats are toast. unreal. Another rumor is Indy complained about inflation after regular season game so they knew before game started.

Once the officials checked the game balls in Indy, the only people who had access to them from that point were Colts employees.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

While it does't surprise me at all that they're involved in this, I think what they really did was exploit that the refs don't do their jobs. According to everything I've read, the protocol surrounding the balls shows that the refs check and take ownership etc. They handle balls more than anyone in a game and you mean to tell me not one of them noticed it? It leads me to believe that this is one more instance of "everybody does it", it's just the Patriots got caught. Because they're they Patriots. Not excusing them at all. It was stupid and they deserved everything that happens to them.

A friend tweeted this:
The Patriots are cheaters. No denying it. But I'd rather there be an uproar over a Colts player's alleged rape than the PSI of a football.

Amen.

Best post on the subject by far. (Again, I'm agreeing with a bu fan twice in one day. I think I must be sick.)

Everybody else does it is a pizzpoor excuse.

And when you is on probation and commit another crime you should be ready for a stiffer sentence to come when the hammer drops.

CHEATERS!!!

Except I didn't say it WAS an excuse. They did it, they should be punished. But if everyone else does it, why are the Patriots the only ones that get called for it? I get it's because of their tarnished legacy and they have to deal with it, but yo can't make this out to be a huge issue, punish the Patriots, and then let everyone else get away with it.

Who else plays with 10.5 psi balls?

No idea. But you can't tell me none of the other teams don't mess around with them. As I mentioned in the NFL thread, I saw on Twitter yesterday that Aaron Rodgers admitted to over inflating the ball, which should be just as bad as under inflating it, shouldn't it? He admitted it on CBS earlier in the season and nothing happened to him, or the Packers as a result. It probably is one of this "You're not supposed to do it, but we have other things that more serious to focus our time on, so we're really not going to police it as much." I'm sure that's why Bellichek thought he could get away with it. Shame on him for doing that, but I believe there is some truth to that.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

god how stupid can you fukcing people be.

each team has their own balls. the GLA balls (which were alleged to be not inflated to league specs) were never used by luck.

all balls are supposed to be between 12.5 - 13.5 psi.
all balls are also prepped to each individual qb's preference every friday. some like big laces, some like them rubbed down to the leather. it is all personal choice on how each qb likes to throw their balls.

how nobody (jon, this means you) is going to telll mookie that the smart GLA - WHO NOW DOES MIND EXERCISES FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD - has no idea how heavy his balls are and doesn't have a preference on laces, leather rub, etc. he knows. each of those balls are treated to be exactly the same when they go into the bag.

now, does GLA push it and like a really soft ball? maybe he figures 12.3 is close enough and he has his guys set them there. maybe with the rain forecasted for last saturday he made them softer. again - those balls are set to the exact specs that GLA wants.

if someone asked him, "what psi do you set for your balls each week?" he'd know. he might not tell you, but this brain exercising qb knows.

now...... with the rep the patsies have would anyone doubt that they push the rules (misinterpret? :D). nope.

....... does GLA need to 'deflate' the balls for him to be able to beat the colts? hell no!!
but that's how he wants his balls. so that's how they are.
the RNC didn't need to break into watergate to beat the dems in '72 --- but they did it too.

just goes to the organizational arrogance and disregard for the rules. The Patriot Way..... if you ain't cheatin', you ain't trying ;)
This is some fine work out of you. I feel like I should applaud.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Half time, Patriots/Colts game...

Ref: Umm Bill, the Colts have filed a complaint that your team is using under-inflated footballs.
Bill: I don't know anything about that ref.
Ref: We're going to have to confiscate your 12 balls for an investigation. We'll give you 12 brand new balls for the 2nd half.
Bill: OK.

Bill - to team: Guys, the Colts have accused us of cheating and complained to the league.
Team: OK Bill.

21 unanswered 3rd quarter points. That worked out well for Indy. :D
