The 2013 New England Patriots

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

neither has anyone else, awful

They said it was a new rule this year...I can't believe they make that call on that play. That was pretty weak. How many times do you see linemen pushing running backs forward for few extra yards at the end of a play. There's sure to be a lot of talk about that one. It's too bad the Patriots took the 3rd quarter off.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

This team is going nowhere without Talib, Dennard is pretty good but they need Talib. You can lose Mayo as there are other young guys at LB but Talib is the key to the D. Brady looks old to me

so they need talib?

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

It's a rule. It was called correctly. Nobody got screwed.

Mike Pereira says it is a new rule that was added this year and has never been called before.

The refs didn't decide the game, but they sure as hell made sure they inserted themselves into the game at key moments. I can't stand that.

That was the worst call in the history of football
that's not even the worst call against the Pats. The 78' playoff game against the Raiders comes to mind. You cannot expect people to not be mad at officials when they make a call - on the road - THAT HAS NEVER BEEN MADE BEFORE. Like it's the frigging NBA. Did any fan know about this rule before today? The players did, but not the fans.

Which is the real reason they lost today. They never should have been in the position where "Look Ma, I'm throwing a flag on TV!" could influence the outcome. What was the strategy in the third quarter, exactly?

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

It's a rule that has never been called on a play where It had no bearing on the kick but the ref certainly knew it would decide the game.

They don't call holding on every play for a reason.
Don't push your teammate into the offensive line and take the risk it's going to be called. Just because it's never been called before doesn't mean it won't. It just means no one has either done it, or gotten caught doing it. Pats have no one to blame but themselves for that call.

Rule was requested by the NFLPA this past offseason, and only applies to FG/PAT attempts. Don't like it? Don't let the Jets take you to overtime, don't let the Jets run the ball all over your defense in OT.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Without that mind-boggling half-assed inane game-deciding penalty, the Patriots win the game by a FG with that field position. It's a freebie to the Foot-fetish Coach.

Worst O-line I have ever seen in a Pats team, in the 3rd. Always getting Brady sacked and in a 2nd or 3rd and 17 at the 5 or so yard line, resulting in a punt. The O-line lost the lead and let this go into overtime. They aren't going to last long with that O-line.

Brady didn't get any help from the O-line in the 3rd. No QB could have taken that abuse.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Couldn't give two bleeps about whether it's a rule or not. Use some god **** common sense. No ref should ever throw a flag based on what happened. Simply idiotic to say it was a good decision to call that.

like the tuck rule? :p

--please. patsies have benefitted from ridiculous calls more than any team in history.

"hey!! let's bring a snow plow out to clean a spot for a fg!!" :D

like we don't call PI on hail mary passes?
or offensive line holding on hail mary passes?!?

"let them play!!!" ;)

yeah, he isn't getting protection and his receivers aren't helping. Play calling sucks also, Pats didn't deserve to win the game, when you don't convert more 1 or 2 3rd downs in a game your O sucks

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

To put it another way, nobody associated with the new york jets would have complained if it WASN'T called. That's when you know it was entirely unnecessary to make that call. I'm pretty sure that when they showed refs clips of the play they were trying to eliminate, none of them looked like what we "saw" (or didn't see) today.

So, because a team wouldn't have complained, that means you shouldn't call a penalty when it is warranted?
