Re: The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August

I thought one of the biggest problems with government was that every politician is already essentially a used car salesman?

Besides, you've made it perfectly clear government does nothing but fark things up. Why do we need a salesperson to sell us that?

Most of the members of our federal legislature are lawyers. And they help their colleagues by passing legislation which provides a cornucopia of business for other lawyers. Jesse James did it with a gun.

Yeah, and most lawyers who aspire to become politicians are sleazeballs. I can name a few from my class that will probably run for at least a local or state office someday. Hated every one of 'em. Bought too much into the myth of selling yourself to clients, not enough into the whole ethical and moral responsibility of the legal profession (yes, there are some of us who actually buy into that part).

Of that I have no doubt. Present company included.

U.S. taxpayers' profit on AIG bailout was $17.7B, Fed says
The sale of the last asset-backed securities acquired by the U.S. government as part of its 2008 rescue of American International Group brings the total taxpayer profit to $17.7 billion, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said. The final sale of AIG-related securities generated a $6.6 billion profit, in addition to about $11 billion from an earlier sale of loans and assets, the Fed said. While it's nice that taxpayers are actually netting a profit, you have to wonder how much of it may be due to "creative" accounting or favorable tax treatment towards AIG.

Re: The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August

So, Ron Paul turned $40 million in donations and 100ish delegates into nothing for the 2nd straight cycle. No speech at the convention, no token nomination.

You've got to be an idiot to donate him money. I wonder what $40 million would do for a serious third party candidate instead of a guy who pockets most of it while claiming libertarian beliefs.

People who donate to Ron Paul are either 1) Loons, or 2) Those who think they're making a principled statement against The Man, even though its a statement nobody ever hears. Ron Paul is the ultimate snake oil salesman. From making millions printing Klan articles in his newsletter to caucusing with a party that has nothing to do with his so-called beliefs, it amazes me how many people even give him the time of day.

This is amazing

MATH QUIZ: Reveals your favorite Show!!

I am good at math, so I did it in my head. Give it a try or get a pencil and paper.

DO NOT cheat and scroll down to the movies. Do YOUR math, THEN compare the results to the list of movies at the bottom You will be AMAZED at how scary true and accurate this test is

1. Pick a number from 1-9.

2. Multiply that number by 3.

3. Add 3.

4. Multiply by 3 again.

5. Your total will be a two digit number. Add the first and second digits together to find your favorite show (of all time) in the list of 17 movies below:

Movie List:

1. Gone With the Wind
2. E.T.
3. Blazing Saddles
4. Star Wars
5. Forrest Gump
6. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
7. Jaws
8. Grease
9. The Obama Farewell Speech of 2012
10. Casablanca
11. Jurassic Park
12. Shrek
13. Pirates of the Caribbean
14. Titanic
15. Raiders of the Lost Ark
16. Home Alone
17. Mrs. Doubtfire

Now, isn't that something?

This is elementary school math

FTFY

It's almost as though any two digit multiple of nine results in a number whose digits add up to nine.

(side note, what is it with old people and chain e-mails. My godfather sends me about 3 a day. And they're all shiat like this).

I'll take Number 1 for the win, Bob.
