The 2012 New England Patriots

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Thanks to Houstons yearly swoon the Pats get a Bye. I don't see anyone beating Peyton in Mile high.

Broncos are a great team, possibly the favorite to win the AFC, but I'm also not sure where the aura of invincibility at Mile High comes from. Peyton has played eight games -- a pretty small sample size -- as the home QB at Mile High. The seven wins were all against non playoff teams, and the one playoff team that came to Denver won

Pats win was kind of a schadenfreude sandwich. First the Jets throw a pick six and can't even muster one touchdown in a loss to the mail-it-in Bills, and the day ends on a dying quail int by Tony Romo.

BTW, next year’s opponents are now determined. Home games with Browns, Steelers, Saints, Bucs, Broncos. Away vs. Ravens, Bengals, Falcons, Panthers, and Texans. No Indy for the first time in forever, but Peyton comes to Gillette. Wonder if that game will be in prime time?

You mean you won't be watching when the Pats play them? We can update you after the game.;)

If there is one guy that should always worry about BB and the Pats it is Peyton Manning. I doubt the Pats are worried they can't score on that defense...the weather won't impact the Pats at all.

So, I predict it is the same guy, in a different uniform, with that "What just happened???" look on his face trying to figure out why what works against the Raiders and Chiefs doesn't get it done against the Pats.

Whats Bradys record at Mile High? I don't think its good whether peyton was there or not

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

They lost there in 2001 (one of Brady's first starts), won in 2003 (MNF, when they took the safety), lost twice (RS and playoffs) in 2005, lost in 2009 (McDaniels fist-pumping), and won last year. I may have missed one, but I think that's 2-4. Not good, but still much better than their record in Denver in the '80s, when they suffered their annual ball-crushing defeat there. That game where they were tied and driving for the winning score, and Tatupu fumbled and had it returned 60 yards for a TD was a very early smash-my-head-against-the-wall Patriots memory. Then of course there was Eason taking a safety with a couple minutes left in a playoff game. Mecklenberg? Maybe Rulon Jones? Ugh, it was brutal. That was a house of horrors for a while and still makes me uneasy.

Gotta get past Houston or BAL/IND first, though. I posted after the Houston blowout that I thought we'd hear from them again, and I still think that -- despite how they've looked recently.

Who's the only AFC team with a winning record against Brady and Bellichek?

Notre Dame is 5-1 vs. Alabama. Yet the line is still 'bama by 10 points. It's almost like they weigh current factors more than historical records.

If only the Pats and Broncos had played earlier this year for some kind of recent comparison.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Thoughts on playing the Texans next week? I'm not looking forward to it. At all. I don't care that they haven't played well of late. The previous meeting? That's what scares me most. The Patriots seem to always lose in the playoffs to teams they beat soundly in the regular season.

Had the same thought yesterday...Although if we play the 49ers in the SB it would possibly benefit us.

Beware the good team you embarrassed in the RS, they are mad and capable.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

i'm just sad that the ravens won't be coming here... i wanted to laugh and clap as ray lewis walks off the field a loser one last time :(

Not out of the realm of possibility if they win today and beat Denver next week and if the Pats beat Houston next week. Do I have that right?

possible.

but i am going this coming week and will be in SC when the afc title game is being played.

Last year the Pats beat Denver 41-23 (in Denver) in Week 15, then torched them in the playoffs 4 weeks later 45-10.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Based on what I saw this weekend, I'd rather play Houston. They were awful yesterday, but the Bengals were awfuler.

He also has 6 wins in the playoffs against teams that he had already beaten during the season.

Maybe the statement should be as such..."as one of the most successful teams in recent history, the Pats have plenty of wins in the post season, including many over teams they beat earlier in the season ( how could they not if they've been to 5 SB)...BUT when they have lost, a few of the most notable were in instances where the Pats handily beat the team earlier in the year and then were upset by same team in the playoffs"

I'm surprised that people on the Pats thread wouldn't have gotten what Scarlet said originally...it didn't need 5 caveats.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Hey, as long as Krafty bob can hang another banner :)

Y'all look for Mookie in his Hines ward jersey on the TV Sunday :)

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Steelers are going down the tubes and I'm loving every second of it ;)

A Hines Ward jersey, eh? Why not a Roethlisberger with a BU hockey hat?
