The 2012 New England Patriots

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Nice kick there and once again, love that Pats D, Belichek is a defensive genius

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Reports are saying Gronk has surgery today, it appears Tight Ends on the Pats are taking it on the chin this season. Broke it on the last extra point? Hope Hernandez is ready to go.

I got in from a weekend soccer tournament and watched last 5-10 minutes live. First question to wife was "why are the starters still in?".

Not saying we needed 22 backups out there, clearly Tupaq needs some work on coverage, but why would Brady, Gronk, Welker be out there? I know the Colts were the babies that got the rules changed and there has been bad blood...all the more reason to have the subs in there.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Guess they didn't need Gronk last night, probably won't be the case going forward but.. The Jets are bad

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Am I allowed to feel sorry for a Jet? Mark Sanchez looks so lost and discouraged after every screw-up, and now his career will be defined by a clip of him trying to stick his head up a team mate's azz after trying to hand off to a phantom running back.

That 52 second interval was priceless, as was the screen shot of Rex Ryan mouthing "un-****in'-believable".

So...about that...

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

They've recovered nicely to win six straight after a 3-3 start. Now come Houston and San Francisco. They could finish anywhere from No. 1 to No. 4 in the AFC.

Also, they re-signed Stallworth today. Edelman is in one of those walking boots. He's become really important; I wanted them to cut him five or six times over his career -- yeah, I called that one wrong. ;)

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Houston and San Fran are tall orders without Gronk. I can see San Fran but will be a tough game against that D

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Houston definitely laid an egg, but I wouldn't be shocked if they pick themselves up and are heard from in the playoffs. I think NE just played one of its best games, started fast, made all the key plays -- it's amazing what the scoreboard looks like when they can actually get off the field on third down. Houston moved the ball between the 20s, but couldn't convert. And then it just got completely away from them. Adding Talib and moving McCourty to FS has made this D pretty solid when healthy.

Another big challenge next week against SF. Never want to overlook anybody, but I'd be surprised if they booted away the bye vs. Jacksonville or Miami down the stretch. Next Sunday night, then, is pretty much for that bye (and maybe the No. 1 seed if Houston loses again).

Biggest positive for me was keeping Andre Johnson under control. Usually they can't cover a fire hydrant out there, especially on 3rd and long.

Easy to play D with a big lead though. SF will be a good test.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Not a competitive game at all so far. Looks like one of those interconference games from the 1980s where the NFC dominates on both lines of scrimmage and controls the game from the start.
