I don't disagree with that but the pass rush is also weak. The opposing QB is getting way too much time.
In regard to the offense Josh McDaniel has been a disappointment calling plays and Brady has been mediocre to average.

Strange team. I don't have a clue whether they're even any good. They're top-of-the-AFC good, but that's not saying much right now. It would be nice to beat an NFC team this coming Sunday in London -- a loss sets up a possible 0-4 interconference record for 2012, with SF coming into Foxboro in December.

Seems at crunch time the passing game is now limited to 4 yard passes with a hopeful YAC or 30 heaves downfield to covered guys. So, it was unfortunate we got the Offensive PI, ...all the more reason to try to get a few chunks of it at a time instead of 2 desperate tosses.

Here's a good illustration of why their defensive backfield looks so awful much of the time:
A few years ago NE traded a mid-3rd-round pick to Carolina, which used that pick to draft a college quarterback they wanted to convert to a wide receiver and kick returner. Carolina promptly went 2-14, giving NE the first selection in the second round the following year.
The guy Carolina drafted is pretty much useless. He hardly catches any passes and is used sparingly in the kicking game because the coaches don't trust him to catch the ball.
And yet, so far, the Panthers got the better of that trade:
