They've missed on high draft picks too, like Darius Butler. Dowling and McCourty were also top round picks, but the jury is still out on them. As encouraged as I was by the defense the first two weeks, last night was a big step back. That being said, I do think the refs played into it with some horrible calls. Hopefully it was just a hiccup.

Aside from from the sack which was rubbed out by a hold call, they never touched Flacco. That's not good.

And I don't know why NE's DBs seem to get worse the longer they're with the team, but my first guess would have to do with the coaching and/or the system. Sorry to go all Simmons here, but what did the principal say to Norman Dale in Hoosiers at halftime of the first game? Something like, "I'm trying hard to believe that you know what you're doing"? That about sums up the confidence I have in the secondary coaches at this point.

I was thinking the same thing. McCourty's technique is terrible. With your back constantly to the QB you either get burned by a pass going over your head or get flagged if the WR has to come back for the ball. What exactly are they saying to the CB's when they look at the film during the week? Good job, keep up the good work?

last year through three games they played mia/sd/buf

this year ten/ari/bal

baltimore has a VERY GOOD o-line. ten aint bad (they kept collins upright last year).

miami and buf were pretty bad last year. can't recall sd line.

not exactly comparing apples to apples.

Our offense is awful and Gostkowski can't kick a FG.

When is the bye week?

Someone needs to tell the Pats the real refs are back. It's time for the real Pats to show up.
