The 2012 New England Patriots

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

****
Hernandez done for awhile, ankle sprain at the very least, looks worse though

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

I wonder if Welker is still whining about lack of contract, he was last seen on a milk carton

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Cardinals will make a comment about the officials today.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Nice set of plays by the O line, take good field position and turn it into ****

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

The Pats are making the Pats look like crap.
I left to walk the dog and the Pats come back only to have the kicker shank one, TF. Brady gets outplayed by Kevin Kolb, what a joke that is. The O line sucks

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Poor execution all game, but the Cardinals coughed it up late and handed them a chance to win, and they still couldn't do it. Mind-boggling coaching at the end. When four out of five idiots on a bar stool can figure out that you should attack when (1) you have all the momentum, (2) you pay your quarterback $18 million a year, and (3) a 40-yard-plus field goal isn't a chip shot, you'd think the head coach could get it right. Beyond dumb. The worst end-of-game coaching job since the Pete Carroll Era. They throw with Brady when they're up 28 points. Yet they don't throw when they're down two? Horrible game management.

Winslow to sign, Branch to return:
Veteran wide receiver Deion Branch has reached a contract agreement to return to the Patriots, which is expected to be signed Wednesday, a source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Branch, 33, was a surprise cut on Aug. 31, when the Patriots trimmed their roster to 53 players. He had spent six of his previous 10 seasons with New England and was expected to be in the mix near the top of the receiver depth chart prior to his release.

With tight end Aaron Hernandez likely out for several weeks with an ankle injury and receiver Greg Salas waived on Tuesday, per a league source, Branch would replenish the Patriots' receiving corps with a familiar face for quarterback Tom Brady.

The Patriots also signed veteran tight end Kellen Winslow to a one-year deal on Tuesday, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

I hate being the whiney, blame-the-refs fan, because every team has them and they don't really add much to the conversation, but the officials took this game from potentially/probably 17-0 to 13-7 entirely on their own. NE has a decent team but they're not nearly good enough to overcome 4-5 calls that all go against them in the span of eight minutes. This has been really disappointing. Long way to go, though.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Wow, that was something. Let's leave the officiating aside for a moment. I think this can be a good team that wins a lot of games. Everything went against them and they lost by one on the road against what is supposed to be one of the best teams in the league. But these chokes start to add up after a while. I guess we'll see what happens.

They had this game won in the first quarter and the absurd offensive PI on Edelman turned it. But still, they choked. This D really struggles to make a stop at the end against good teams.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

The bend don't break D is pretty much just break now at the end of games and has been for years . Without a Defense this team is the same as the rest, going nowhere in the end

Yep. Refs were terrible, but it's the same old defense when the game is on the line.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Can't blame the refs for this one. They evened out the stupid calls. McCourty either needs to be benched or cut. He spends all game with his back to the QB, meaning he's never in the position to see the ball and break up the play, or get an INT. Yes, occasionally he bats down a pass but as a QB you'll pick on him deep all day. If he's not going to intercept you (yet another pass clanked off his hands last night) the risk-reward tradeoff for picking on him is definately in your favor. Don't want to know what's going to happen vs Rothlisberger, either Manning, Brees, even Schaub, etc if they have to run into those guys this year. I see things playing out like last year with a similar season ending killer drive that they can't stop.

For this Belichick despite his greatness deserves full blame. Ever since he stubbornly turfed Ty Law we haven't had a solid secondary, and that includes Assante Samuel who dropped a Super Bowl clinching INT that Law never would have muffed. Not sure what game Bill's been watching these last half dozen years or so, but its long past time to spend some bucks on a top notch CB and stop hoping late round draft picks can do the job in a more and more passing league.

Yes.
One other thing...
Aside from from the sack which was rubbed out by a hold call, they never touched Flacco. That's not good.
