What other body parts are verboten? Hands? Arms? Legs? Lungs? Heart?

Are you unable to talk about cancer because you might accidentally mention things like breasts or (heaven forbid) colons?

Well, Newt is convinced that the atheist Islamofascist wing of the Democratic party is going to destroy America. I'd start there.

Dang...don't know what to think of that Rand Paul. Could be warming back up to the guy:

"I was happy to see that Newt Gingrich has staked out a position on the war; a position or two, or maybe three," Paul said Wednesday at the Congressional Correspondents' Dinner. "I don't know. He may have more war positions than he's had wives."

"There's a big debate going on over at Fox News. It's really messed up, I mean they don't know what to do," said Paul, a "tea party" darling and the son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas). "They just really can't decide over at Fox News. It's like, what do they love more, bombing the Middle East or bashing the president? It's like, I was over there and there was an anchor going -- they were pleading, they were pleading -- 'please, please, please, can't we do both? Can't we bomb the Middle East and bash the president at the same time? How are we going to make this work?'"

Seriously? Uterus is a dirty word?:confused:

No, but I can't imagine standing before a state legislature and talking about my wife's uterus. But, such is the society we live in now.
Showing that the older generation is more uncomfortable about uteri than the younger ones. I could get the young guests not hearing about uterus but the pages? Ha, they are probably more active regarding uteri than the people who are trying to protecting them. For what its worth not sure I would get up and talk about my uterus but the word is not offensive in itself and it wasn't like he was talking about sex in detail.

Queen Victoria lives. do not talk about limbs!

To be fair I don't think anybody wants to talk about that.

So if one were to incorporate a uterus, what type would it be? Limited liability?

Incorporate means creating a corporation, which by definition is limited liability. You don't incorporate a partnership or LLC.

//yeah yeah, I watch too much How I Met Your Mother...and I retained way too much info from my bar review and business associations class.

If there were a serious health issue to talk about, I'm fine with talking about various body parts. But, this was not a discussion about a serious health issue, but rather to make a partisan jibe. Not that I expect you to grasp the difference. What the guy did was not very classy in my book, but, hey, I can't control the lack of class shown by others.

I'm sure that you take just as much offense when regressives make a partisan jibe.

Like when someone implies that I'm not sophisticated enough to know the difference between "a serious health issue" and a partisan jibe.

Your failure to differentiate speaks for itself.

If you knew anything about me, you'd know I'd take issue with either side when they do something classless.

But these aren't guys in an average workplace or hanging out a bar. These folks are iin the process of trying to talk through the most difficult and important decisions there are. Whatever needs to be said to get to those decisions should be able to be said.

I fail to see how referencing a wife's uterus in a political jibe forwards a serious discussion of this or any issue. I wouldn't expect Priceless to pick up on something like this, but I would expect you to do so.

Although this whole thing is stupid, it did lead to this, which makes it all worthwhile.

I guess you missed this part

They told Democrats that Randolph is not to discuss body parts on the House floor.

They said nothing about a political jibe, as you call it. They said he couldn't discuss any body part on the House floor. What's next? Suspending him for posting a picture of MEg with a pancake on her head?

Edit: And there is a difference between not being able to pick up on a point, and thinking the point in question is really stupid. Let's see if you can figure out which I'm doing.

You just don't do that, the board takes serious measures against such things.

Glad to fill in the blanks for what you miss. Just because they don't use the word "jibe" doesn't mean it wasn't a jibe, as if that wasn't obvious.

"At one point Randolph suggested that his wife "incorporate her uterus" to stop Republicans from pushing measures that would restrict abortions. Republicans, after all, wouldn't want to further regulate a Florida business."

I'd rather not have to define jibe for you, but I will if you need me to.

Well thanks I guess and I do get the civility of discussion concept. The main things that should be off limits in critical discussions like those held by congress are personal shots at opponents and profanity with no point. Just as people allow for freedom for business to do much of what it needs to in order to be successful...the same should hold for government legislation and IMO, that carries over to the nature of dialog.
