Tennis anyone?

Re: Tennis anyone?

Predictably (and even somewhat understandably, I guess), ESPN will now flog this story to death. I've been watching for 40 minutes, 14 courts are in play, and we haven't seen a single point yet this morning. It's all Isner, Mahut, and Queen Elizabeth. Oh well.

Re: Tennis anyone?

As long as they are screwing up the tournament by taking 3 days, why not go for 4.

I want them to take so long Wimbledon has to force them to tie and draw lots to see who advances.

I would bet they insert a tiebreak system soon after that. :D It would be easy to say, after 50 total points in the 5th set use a tiebreak.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Sharapova easily wins her match and advances to the 3rd round.

Re: Tennis anyone?

64-64. It's already 4:15 London time -- only five more hours of sunlight.

Ah, big deal. Wozniacki is playing on channel 703. She can do for tennis what Kournikova and Ivanovic did, except she has...you know...talent.

Re: Tennis anyone?

And Wozniacki goes through.

Great show for the Queen.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Does anyone else think they are both content with just winning their service games and instead of forcing the issue on the other, they are waiting for the other guy to make a mistake on their service rather than work to break the others' serve.

What about Sharapova? She's won three GS titles for *'s sake. :p

Wozniacki needs to develop some type of shot she can rely on for winners. She can't just rely completely on counterpunching to win - it might work for the regular / minor tournaments to some degree, but it isn't working on the slams.

I found it to be fairly interesting trivia that the Queen hasn't been there for... what was it, 33 years? Just from a trivia/curiosity standpoint, given that she lives right nearby and there's special royal box for her to go to the matches and all that. But not something I'd find myself thinking about for more than 30 seconds.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Darren Rovell is speculating on advertisers for these two...

The Winner = Energizer batteries
The Loser = Stride (Longer Lasting Gum)

Also, Snickers (Not going anywhere for awhile?) and Southwest (Wanna get away?)
