and you don't think going to Sochi next week is part of the preparatory plan? If the US goes in November (or whenever, or not at all) there is no difference? staying home and playing someone else would have the same result in preparation?

Seems to me you like to play with words, and trying to put a few in my mouth that I never uttered...I never commented about the plans to visit Sochi...All I said was that you are reading to much into things in general.

Both teams have a plan that they think will work for them. The real proof will be in February. Any reading into things prior to that is pure speculation. Even the pre-competition results can be misleading. In 1998 USA had never beaten Canada in a meaningful game until the Olympic final and they won. In 2002 Canada went into the final on an 8 or 9 game losing streak vs the US and Canada won. History tells us not to read too much into pre-olympic results and actions. What works for one team, may not work for another.

be interesting to get the full 12/13 year stats on this since the sport went to NCAA championship format circa 2000.

Off the top of my head:

Miller is Canadian.
Frost, Johnson and Hallderson are American.

Any other coaches that won NCAA titles ?.

How many D1 head coaches are Canadian vs. US ? (I think vast majority are US).

Brad Frost has dual citizenship, so those claiming either can be interpreted as being correct.

and would he have he been eligible for the US Olympic team in 98?
when someone grows up in Canada playing hockey, they are Canadian no matter how many different passports they have.

hey, I just asked the question, you guys obviously don't think the Canadians have pulled a fast one a time or two in the Olympics
fast one=been a little smarter than the US

I thought telling the troops: "they're trampling all over our flag!" was brilliant, talk about firing them up! (or maybe I'm just reading too much into that eh?)
or playing against men's teams while ours were prepping by playing girls (2002, or was it 2006?)

going to Sochi well before the games is brilliant
picking your team and them having younger players (who would otherwise be doing what? eating corn dogs at the state fair? ) go to a camp and then combining with the team is also brilliant. Good experience for all of them for the future considering a number of the older ones will retire after this Olympics, win or lose. And yes, it is different than having some scrimmages from which you pick the team.

but if you don't think so, that's your opinion, I have mine too

I'd guess he'd have been in the same boat as Brett Hull and be able to choose one or the other. I see that as different from somebody like Shannon Miller who was born a Canadian and has since gained U.S. citizenship.

Not only that. She coached Team Canada back in the 90's.

Not really "in the country"....It is only 7 miles from down town Budapest, and still within the outer ring road that goes around the city. Just accross the road there are plenty of high rise apartments and high density living. Similar location in reference to downtown as being on the 95/128 ring road in beantown. Do you consider Woburn out in the country ??.

I was joking. Woburn doesn't have farm land (well not much of it left) whereas the area in question is quite bucolic...(zoom out a bit)

Know you were joking, but "in the country" perspective can differ based on personal reference. As you know I really live in "the country", nothing but farm land and nearest neighbor over half a mile away. To me Woburn feels like an inner city. :D
