Syracuse Women Ice Hockey

Re: Syracuse Women Ice Hockey

I say goodbye! This parent and his twins can hit the road. No one player is bigger than the whole of the team. The coach sold out to get a good player.... big mistake, call it a lesson. I say shame on the coach, shame on the parents...

Part of the University/College experience is being able to adjust to life away from home. This is a classic example of hovering parents, coddled children. Epidemic in this generation.

Re: Syracuse Women Ice Hockey

From my understanding it was a situation with a delusional father thinking that his twins should be on the same line, when in reality he has one gifted player and one D3 caliber daughter. No one player, PARENT, or family is more important than the program. The program just got stronger, TEAMS win championships. It's a good thing to see the situation done with. Good for 'Cuse bring on 2011
What is this I don't think you know the father a great person and had a lot to offer to the team with all his knowledge but I guess they didn't take that opportunity too bad for them, the twins are good players on the ice and a great example off the ice , the program is loosing their best player and I say best franchise player I have seen her play and she is unbelievable to watch I can say she is the best skater in NCAA and in the top 5 best NCAA hockey player, no the program will not get stronger because there is a inside problem that needs to be solved ..

One of the longest sentances I have read.

Odd, seems to be a lot of new accounts being created to post about the Syracuse program and two kids transfering ... hmmmm

Could you please explain why she is not on the Hockey Canada selection camp roster? The press release states that there are 14 players from U.S. universities on it.

Re: Syracuse Women Ice Hockey

Two possible reasons she is not on the prelim camp roster 1-She isn't among the best 37 players in Canada that are available. She is impressive at Syracuse but so are most medium size fish in tiny ponds 2- Her father (who I assume wrote the post calling her the best skater in the NCAA) is a nightmare and his reputation precedes them. Having been involved in this selection process in the past, "baggage" is taken into consideration. No one wants to deal with a father who thinks he knows more than a coach, regardless of their involvement with the game in the past. There is no I in team and there certainly isn't in Team Canada.

The four youngest players on that list are four '91s, Poulin, Jenner, Fortino and McKeough. While there are a few other good 91's in the land, that is a pretty select group, hard to argue with those selections. Seen them all play live this year on more than one occasion.

Re: Syracuse Women Ice Hockey

parents do not like being lied to. do womans teams get rid of players like this one? seems cold hearted to bring kids in for a year or two then let them go after all they were chosen by the coaches.would not want my kid to play for this school

Re: Syracuse Women Ice Hockey

As a scout , I hope that this young lady and her parents are not reading these negative comments I don't think it is fair to them!!!

WOW!!! Seems like there's been more than one person who had this awful experience.

Me thinks HockeyCanada got promoted to an NCAA Scout and took 5658 Slaphots. :)

This looks to be the 2011 version of the Cookie Monster and Irish Birdie. It is not appropriate for insiders or ax grinders to air what should be stuff staying within the halls of U. First we had Niagara, then Brown now SU.

At the end of the day, Mr Flanagan's record speaks for itself. He build SLU to a national contender with several frozen four appearances, and it appears he is now doing the same at SU. The program is only in year three. To me this is just a small blip on the road to success.

SU as a whole has a proven track record of a comittment to a strong varsity program in general (witness Football and BasketBall). I'm sure Mr Flanagan is committed to SU, just like SU is committed to Mr Flanagan. As a casual Orange basketball fan, hope the program continues to grow and wish the players and the team for next year a lot of success. With Mercyhurst coming back to the pack, the fight for the CHA title should be more exciting next year.

Absolutely brutal to read. I hope your "scouting" reports aren't this hard for people to read.

You overlooked men's lacrosse (and I'm not so sure about football).

Sorry nodded off while reading this at breakfast, just woke up

Tough read, the father should adjust his expectations for providing his knowledge to "the team" going forward, coaches at the NCAA level don't look for advice from parents. Perhaps he should consult the postings for Asst Coaches, get hired, and take his two little studlettes with him.

As a follow-up to Sean's question, how did she miss being selected for the Patty Kaz? I can see her not making the final 3 (it all political anyway) but she should have been a sure thing for the top 10. Care to explain?

I call BULL$H1T.... Why would a scout waist their time on this forum? As for the parents and player.... It's like a news paper, if you don't like what's being said, then don't read it.
