Re: Sweet Release: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread Part I

Nipissing University?!

really....

I think we're going to have fun with that one come October

Re: Sweet Release: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread Part I

What is this? Don't tell me the University needs to bus students up the hill to get them to attend hockey games. Please tell me this means something other than what I think it does...

Ryan J

Why not just put a ski lift on the hill??

So, to sum up our new executive board's lunch with the coach...

-Our Canadian school this year is Ni****ing... this is just too easy. I thought he was bs'ing me at first.
- Although it isn't 100% official, we will play NMU at home on Tuesday, Oct 12th and Friday, December 17th at NMU. NMU didn't want to change their game so we did what we wanted with ours, just like this year.
- Soley was "dismissed from the team".
- Awesome story, Walt Kyle was furious about the lack of trophy presentation and recognition for winning the Ramada cup a couple of years ago when he brought it onto to the ice at our home and what not. This was because he did not know the Ramada Cup lost its sponsorship like 3 or 4 years prior and they weren't doing it anymore. Russell found that found this out from Dave Shyiak (NMU alum) and called Walt to make fun of him.
- If it works out, there will be new safety netting put up this summer. They've gotta bring cranes in so it would have to be after ceremonies and before they put the ice back in.
- Still working on hill transportation for students in the Jan and Feb months, working on being able to get student tickets anywhere on campus, and now we are looking into getting Mitch skating again.
- Coach is not liking the snow right now.

Edit: Hahahaha their school gets censored and I can't link to it either if the title has that in it. Therefore, I changed it to a tiny URL with an acceptable name.
Oh and he said that the exhibition game was very close to being against the Swedish Under-20 and that team would go through and play some of the other nearby teams (NMU, LSSU, Duluth) on the trip. The date they were coming worked great for Tech but not enough other schools could accommodate it so it fell through.

That's too bad, I would've loved to see us out-muscle/out-hit a bunch of soft, teenage Swedes...

...and still find a way to lose 3-2. :o

We're chuckling over the Canadian team name in our thread, too. I'm borrowing that link (and citing you as the genius behind it).

...I can't believe you were awake for it!

And that thing with Coach Kyle is...hilarious! I always wondered what the hell was up with that. I never did get around to congratulating NMU on the random, no-name cup they brought to the series themselves when they beat Tech.... Oh well. :)

Re: Sweet Release: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread Part I

Remember, kids: With great power comes great responsibility.

And a great chance that you'll be suspended. :p
I take it I should be thankful that I can't see what the dooshbags are posting?
Sadly, I doubt it. I heard it referred to as the "Death Hill" many times when I was up there.

Of course, if the team were to win some games, maybe that hill wouldn't be quite so "bad".
Why are people so god**** ****ing lazy piece of ****s. I hope everyone who has ever used the hill as an excuse to not go to a game dies very young, because they are lazy ****s who grew to be 400 ****ing pounds sitting on their fat asses playing with their xstation all day.

Re: Sweet Release: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread Part I

Another piece of info I remember now. I don't follow the recruiting info but tell me if this matches what you guys have. We have NINE incoming freshmen (one will be a redshirt) and he said an unnamed TENTH is possible. To sum up what else I remember, we have a pair of really tall/big D coming and one guy who doesn't put up many points but is the captain of their team and looks to be a great leader. I mentioned Batty and he seemed to agree that he could be the new him.

Oh and bbdl really needs to change his tampon. That is all for now.

So either they're debating whether or not Kero is ready, or they've got another guy on their radar. That's my take anyway.

...we have a pair of really tall/big D coming...

Sova (6'3", 210) and Stebner (6'4", 210) - our only two incoming d-men at this point, and both fit the description.

Pat McCadden - an American from the hockey hotbed of Missouri. ;)

Sounds like a streaky player, similar to Batty's senior year.

I am pretty sure it is not Kero because we were also talking about him and how he was coming in next year.

Don't worry, that wouldn't happen. The U-20 team would kick Tech's arse. The U-20 teams are not the U-18 teams. They are very good, better than college teams.

Re: Sweet Release: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread Part I

Yeah, he didn't want to say either. Oh and I forgot to say that when they were in Sweden they inked a commitment. I think it is for next year but definitely not this year.
I had heard they were working on getting some kids to commit from Sweden, last I heard they were still working on making sure the kids were all prepared for the clearing house and starting pretty early to make sure the young guys did the proper coursework, etc.
Then it's a guy we're not aware of.
Russell is probably still trying to find a defenseman to get the numbers in better shape...plus maybe a smaller/skill guy. There is also the possibility that they are trying to get the kid that just decommitted to Minnesota :p

He's not allowed to until the commitment is in writing. You know that. :p

Heisenberg must be slower to the punch on Euro signings. IMO, this is the next fairly untapped recruiting zone for the NCAA. Good move on the coaching staff's part to make sure these guys are lined up and ready to go academically though. We all know what happened the last time we inked a potential hotshot recruit.

Re: Walters. I read he was being courted by Blais/UNO. I severely doubt Tech's going to win that battle, assuming they're even in it. He's also supposedly expressed interest in Duluth and North Dakota.

And Dirty, I'd definitely agree if it was this season's Canadian or American teams.

Some bad news in the Husky Hockey family. Asst. Equipment Supervisor Roy Britz was diagnosed with cancer on 3/26. They will be holding a benefit on May 22nd.

Shit, that must be why he stopped working with me for the jersey order.

"Something has come up and I won't be able to work with you on the Misfits order."

I never would have guessed that was what it was. That is terrible news. Maybe we can get our executive board to make him a card or something.

Hell, buy him a jersey.

That's terrible, and good luck to him and his family. :(
