Re: Sweet Release: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread Part I

The two years in Houston where they forced John Scott to play as a forward helped in both his skating ability and his scoring touch.

I did!! Sertie did!!
I didn't when I saw him playing at Tech, but when I saw him/drank with him at the DT a year after he graduated, he was so confident about how well he was doing and how much better he had gotten that at that point I thought he would make it.

How does a school like Yale/Cornell bring in good talent, yet Tech struggles to do so? Sort of kills the argument that Tech fails to land top talent due to academics. A complete overhaul of the hockey program is needed. This staff isn't getting it done. It's time for a change.

I'm not sure if the argument for Tech not bringing in good talent is as much about academics as it is about Tech being in the middle of nowhere.

Besides who says RPI Cornell and Yale has good talent, and didn't just get hot and lucky.

If Tech played in their leagues they probably would have made the tourney to, in which case all they have to do is win one or two games.

Tech has beaten Denver and North Dakota (maybe not this year, but have beat them recently-ish). Beaten a team like that with inferior talent once is common. Doing it consistently is a totally different story.

Why, hello, n00b.

well I'm not down on the team like some others. I just think we need to do a better recruiting job and work harder than the other guys.

Next year goaltending will be better, defense will be better and scoring will be better. Reason for hope IMHO

Isn't this pretty much what we say every offseason?

*ties Jamie Russell to chair*

*props eyes open like A Clockwork Orange*

*puts RIT/Denver and RIT/UNH on constant loop*

See THAT? They can do THAT! RIT is in the same boat we are! An engineering school with tough academic standards and no women in a crappy college town with awful weather! They haven't even been D1 for five years! Why can't WE do THAT?

Actually Rochester is an true city. Not to mention it is awesome. I absolutely loved being there and thought it was a really nice city. Of course then I found out it had the highest murder rate per capita in New York and one of the highest in the nation...

RIT doesn't have athletic scholarships either.
