Super Bowl LI: Puppies, Commercials, And Some Football Too

Re: Super Bowl LI: Puppies, Commercials, And Some Football Too

Lots of boston hate on here, 37 titles in the major pro sports according to Bob Ryan, that will bring the haters out.

NYC has twice the number of titles and ten times the population and isn't even in your area code for jackwagon a-hole fans. For that your sole competitor is Philadelphia, the Fallujah of the US.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but here's a good one if you haven't come across it yet.

Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard made a bet when the score was 28-3 with a fan that if the Pats came back to win, she would go on a date with him. Obviously, it happened, and she's actually following through and holding up her side of the deal. She stated on some Canadian Sports show that she'll likely fly him to a tournament or wherever she is, with her busy schedule, but he has to be the gentleman and plan a fun date night.

That's cute. She actually looks like a reasonable facsimile of a human.

Twice the amount of teams also

This is brilliant

How so? Off the top of my head:

Yankees - 27
Mets - 2
Giants - 4
Jets - 1
Rangers - 2?
Knicks - 1?

That's 37 as well unless you're counting teams that no longer play in NY like the Giants or Dodgers.

Counting teams that won their titles while they were playing in NYC.

I believe it's about 70. There is a list out there, though it erroneously splits out the Mets, Isles, and Dodgers, all of who should count (just as Foxboro should count for The cough Athens of America).

Hmmm...how can that be? Only other teams I have are the Dodgers who won once, and the Giants who won a few but not the 30 we're missing. Not aware of any NY based football teams, nor hoops or hockey teams that have moved on.

I think you're right. I think I was taking that list and adding back in the Dodgers and Giants, and if it already contains them then that's not correct.

So, I will revise my thesis. It's not that NY has twice the number of titles as Boston and that Boston fans suck. It's that Boston fans suck.

Though to be fair their fandom has nothing to do with it. It's just a collection of the worst humans ever assembled outside a prison, an SEC locker room, or the Republican National Convention.

Except Philly. I'll give ya Philly.

Maybe you were including the Globetrotters! :D :D :D

Not a bad idea...

Actually, they did win one of the pre-NBA titles, right?

But they were an Illinois team for the first 40 years, so I guess that wouldn't count.

I know the history with Philly sports fans, but having been to Philly and Chicago this summer I thought people in Philly were infinitely nicer than people in Chicago.

Everyone has an opinion on another teams fans. Ask Charger fans what they think of the Raiders' fans and vice versa. My daughter and her husband went down to NY for a Yankees game and they were terrified in Yankee Stadium ended up leaving.

Re: Super Bowl LI: Puppies, Commercials, And Some Football Too

I was in a grocery store that had the game on (monitors for while you wait at checkout, way cool). While waiting to pay the bagger (yeah, we still have those too) said, "28-3 Atlanta. NE's gonna lose!"

I gave him the Curly line. Why? Because dead ain't dead until it's cold and dead.

Can't wait to see that bagger next time. ;)
