Super Bowl LI: Puppies, Commercials, And Some Football Too

Re: Super Bowl LI: Puppies, Commercials, And Some Football Too

Went to my first game in 1969 at Alumni. It wasn't really a stadium then, aluminum bleachers around the field. Went to my 2nd game the following year at Harvard Stadium, more aluminum benches. When Schaefer Stadium opened in '71 yeah, it was still aluminum benches but it was paradise, finally a "home".
Went to my first game in the mid-60's at Fenway (Houston Oilers IIRC). I remember when Schaefer opened, they weren't sure if the toilets would flush, so they conducted a simultaneous flush test!
Huge (YUGE!) traffic jam trying to get to the stadium, people walked miles down route 1. They certainly have come a long ways since those days!

Wasn't game 1 a Monday Nighter?

Went to my first game in the early 60s at Braves Field. They played the Chargers and the New York Titans had a car parked just out of the end zone. My father got us down on the sideline and I stood next to Ernie Ladd, the tallest, blackest person I've ever seen to this day.

I stood next to Ernie Ladd
The Big Cat. I remember him when he played for the Chiefs and his pro wrestling days.

Boston Patriots center Jon Morris said Ladd was so big, he blocked out the sun: "It was dark. I couldn’t see the linebackers. I couldn’t see the goalposts. It was like being locked in a closet.
