Suny cortland season thread 1.

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

last years home attendance at home against oswego? 733.... plattsburgh for example 311... i see your point ;)

Really? I was at that game and it didn't seem like there was even half that many. Also yes a good number of them were Oswego fans.

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

In the late 80's I attended some Hockey games at Cortland. The fans used to bring all of their kitchen pots and pans to the game as noise makers. They would sit behind or near the opposing teams penalty box and harass the offender for the duration of his stay in the box. Rarely would the players be able to ignore the foolish jargon/noise and the result was mud slinging back and forth that was quite heated/amusing. Couple that with a lot of foolish drunken behavior and the game/side shows were quite entertaining. Simply a fond memory of some good times.

Ahh the joys of old time hockey when we didn't have to worry about administration censorship of harmless college fun.

I actually had a run in with the rink manager or who ever it was ( I know go figure..me?) ...he came over and wanted to try the whole "no noisemakers"....after we discuessed that it was only being done after Plattsburgh goals he agreed to let it continue.

He didn't realize no one else was scoring any qoals??? ;)

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

But most importantly, Oswego :o wishes they could have done as well against Hobart as Cortland did.

when people play the #1 team in the country they bring their A game, oz was down their starting goalie. you'll remember that oz beat cortland 6-1 earlier this year, I will most likely be at the oz cortland game on 2/4, its the day before my birthday though so I might end up making other plans, but I plan on checking it out.

I do find it interesting though that Cortland is only 2 wins off of being tied with Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC, don't you find that interesting norm? :-P

While I do agree that whenever anyone plays Plattsurgh, they do bring their "A game", it also appears that when Oswego plays teams they consider a push-over, they leave their "A game" in the locker room ;)

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

I wonder if Oz is hoping Hobart gets to the title game at the Pathfinder? :D

it would make things more interesting to watch, as Oz will be out for blood this time.

as this is the Cortland thread I should say that its a shame cortland only played Hobart once, I think if they were to play Hobart again they wouldn't do as well as the first time, from what I saw when I went to hobart, they are a very agressive team.

The past 4 times Oswego ended up the regular season #1 in the SUNYACs....they have 1 SUNYAC title to show for it...including losing 3 times in the SUNYAC Semi finals....

Plattsburgh has finished 3rd or worse in the past 8 years 3 times and still made the SUNYAC finals...

Plattsburgh has had the same amount of SUNYAC titles in non 1st place regular seasons then Oswego has in 1st place regular season - no SUNYAC title seasons....I'd worry more about Oswego tanking it in the playoffs then where Plattsburgh is in the standings right now.

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

The times I've been to Cortland, Oz has put up at least 5 and shut out the Red Dragons. I did a game once where Oswego got 8 or 9 goals and I got to call them all while my broadcast partner got none. :D

that actually sounds like alot of fun, i doubt they'd let you do anything like that now-a-days though.

This reminds of the old days - except instead of RIT and Elmira, every thread revolves around Oswego and Plattsburgh, regardless of the actual topic

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

the old guys from Norwich like to banter now and then....usally about steaks and pretzels.......not you Prez, we still are not sure which way you go...............not thats theres anything wrong with it ;-))))))

But we try to keep our banter to threads where our banter is relevant, unlike the Oswego and Plattsburgh guys :)

Re: Suny cortland season thread 1.

maybe we should just make an Oswego vs. Plattsburgh thread and go back and forth in there, instead of taking over other threads, even though we've probably doubled the number of posts in the cortland thread
