Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

Curt Schilling posted a bigoted anti-transgender meme to his Facebook yesterday.

ESPN apparently has had enough, and has sacked him. (per Deadspin)

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

National Spelling Bee finals on tonight, starting 8 PM EDST.

$40,000 of prize money, apparently.

538 has a story about it today.

Somebody on this board has a history with that contest, a moment of infamy if you will, but refuses to explicitly state which of the many moments that is. I'm guessing he's not the kid who passed out from a word I couldn't pretend to even pronounce [ETA: alopecoid], nor did he have to spell sardoodledom.

I know which moment it is, but I'll leave you guys to figure it out.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

His schtick got old...rather quickly. Plus I know people who have met him and he was a total dick tot hem...

Everything about ESPN peaked two decades ago.

IMO -- other than the quality of the actual images being broadcast -- there isn't a single thing about televised sports and all of the extra clutter that accompanies the games that is better now than it was 20 or more years ago, and most aspects are much worse. ESPN is responsible for almost all of that.

There's a difference between peaking and not annoying.

He did peak decades ago. But even now he didn't bother me.

The same could be said for the Summerall/Madden team, frankly.
