St. Lawrence University Skating Saints - 2015-2016

Re: St. Lawrence University Skating Saints - 2015-2016

Well that was not too much fun to watch tonight. A rather horrid performance.
Any kind of special teams play is our undoing. Man up who knows what's going to happen.........the other team is just as likely to score as we are. Man down...our Kill leaves a lot to be desired.

Not sure at all what the answer is???? Brey was OK in net but provided he is healthy I'm betting we see Hayton back tomorrow. Don't know if it is true but I've been told by people who know him that Morris is very impatient with goalies.

Greg was commenting on it during the broadcast and it is amazing how little we shoot the puck. Those two or three wide open nets we missed early on came back to haunt us.
I have a feeling tomorrow nights game is going to be harder than tonight's. Hope the team can snap out of this funk. I don't know if anyone else overheard it but Greg is on the air the whole time the Internet feed is on..........but he continues to talk to people when the radio is on commercial break. I swear I heard him say.... "This is going to be a long year" on the end of game break.

Re: St. Lawrence University Skating Saints - 2015-2016

Joe..........it was/is definitely worth listening/watching. As you know we stream the video......but the announcers are doing a radio broadcast. So the stream continues with the mics on when the radio is playing commercials. You hear the best stuff in between periods and on commercial breaks when the mics are live and they are still talking to other people or each other. We got one "Oh sh_T" from Joe tonight when they were off air on the radio but the mics were live.
The best part is his insight though......that and the stories of all past players and greats who played for SLU that they wind up talking about. He's not going to be on next weekend. I think its mostly the games from Canton he will be on.

Nice win for the Saints tonight. They looked a lot better than against Princeton. Q Pac brought out the best in us. First period was a little tough being shorthanded so much but I thought in the second and third we gained momentum and really took over the game. Was sad to hear during the broadcast Greg say Laidley will be out until at least mid January while Marnell is day to day. Anyone know what Laidley's injury is??

Re: St. Lawrence University Skating Saints - 2015-2016

Guess this thread is just about dead and the Facebook page has taken over. But.......very little discourse after the game on the Facebook page. Usually just leading up to and during.

This board lost a lot of our regular posters like Got6 and TimU (unfortunately) after the coaching change and some other issues. Too bad as it used to be fun hearing all the inside scoop and contrary views.

Any of the Tupper Lake gang make it to the Union game?? From what I hear we came out strong and controlled the start but barely hung on for the tie which has been our pattern lately whenever we are playing down in Schenectady. I'm imagining RPI is going to be a bit riled up tonight after the thumping by our neighbors. Will likely be a tough game tonight. Always is after someone gets thumped.

Great 4 point weekend Saints, good luck in Ireland!

Indeed this was an excellent weekend of hockey for the guys. We played great on both ends of the ice all weekend. Kyle continues to be solid in net as his numbers continue to drop each game. Let's hope we can keep this rolling into this weekend as Friday is a big one against a team in Quinnipiac who is right on our tails in the ECAC standings (and this one does count as our 2nd and final ECAC match-up with them this season). Lots to be optimistic about after a weekend like this one.

Have almost completely given up posting here, or, even looking. The Facebook page seems to have taken away all our posters other than an occasional comment or two. Times change I guess.

Good luck to the Saints in Ireland. That Quinny game will be a big one and I'm sure they will be out for revenge. On neutral ice it will be interesting what the atmosphere is like. Hope with a nickname like "Saints" the Irish will be on our side?

Ironic that Greg Carvel and UMass will be there as well.

I'll be doing my part, bringing a newer style home McBride jersey, and a road S. Flanagan to Belfast with me. Brock briefly played for the Belfast Giants, and of course Flanagan is about as Irish a name as you can come across.

Flying in about 48 hours!

You say this just about every time you post here though, so I think we've all noticed this by now as well! :p:D ... Hopefully the posters start coming back over here at some point, but it's not surprising to see a social media giant like Facebook in this day and age becoming a top priority for most people. But even if they don't come back the Facebook page is a fun and lively place just as well so all is not lost :)

It should be a real good match up Friday. Thanks for NESN picking it up in the Boston area.

Yes, it definitely should be. It's a big one for both teams, that's for sure. I found it on my local cable provider as well through SNY, so looking forward to being able to watch it from the comforts of my living room from afar! :)

Literally a game in November could decide the ECAC regular season title. That's pretty crazy.

It absolutely could and certainly is pretty crazy. Even though we have a long ways to go in this still pretty young ECAC season, I think this one could decide things one way or the other. I'm hoping for a good battle either way (with the Saints coming out victorious though of course ;)).

you guys played some pretty good hockey to hang in with a fast Q team.. even in ot.

Yet in the shootout (if you dont mind me saying this).. some of the most uninspired, uncreative shooting. Too bad one goalie had to lose.
