Re: St Lawrence Hockey

The next two recruiting classes for the Saints look great. It's clear the coaches have been hard at work and have had some real successes.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Wasn't this guy in the movie Animal House??? :D
That's Blutosky... he's in the following year's recruiting class. A transfer from Dartmouth, I mean, Faber. But he may not be able to stay eligible... recall his grades from Faber?

TOGA, TOGA!!!!!

Tough one to lose.....even a tie would have been huge.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

New game, new day ... Big one tonight against Union at Appleton ... We stand in 8th place, with a win and a few realistic wins and losses in the other games and we can be in a 4th place tie at the end of the night ... Let's go Saints!!!

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

That's a great power play you guys have with really good movement; I'm sure any team in the league would like that. Sorry to see such a fluky goal at the end; even I didn't see it go in. Take out Union tonight; we'll look to do the same on CCT. :)

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Watching Notre Dame ~ Michigan replay this morning on CBS Sports Network and Carey was one of the four Hobey Baker prospects the commentators mentioned.

It's only been about 13 years since we have had a powerplay worth anything. This group still doesn't hold a candle to the days of Gellard, Fyfe, Anderson, Dietrich, et al, but they have certainly looked really good at times.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Big win tonight for the Saints ... We now jumped into a tie for 5th with Union and Dartmouth, both of whom we hold the tie breaker against. One point out of 3rd with only 6 games remaining. Next weekend is undefeated Quinnipiac on Friday and Princeton (who is 1 point ahead of us in the standings) on Saturday on the road. Big weekend coming up, the Quinnipiac game will clearly be very difficult. Wouldn't it be something else to be the one to give them their first league loss. Keep it up boys!!!

And, with Minnesota losing to SCSU 4-1, it will be @ #1 Quinnipiac.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Way to go Saints!!!
Finally we hold on to a third period lead.
Are Wick and Carey on fire or what??

Anyone need some snow?? Got more than enough to spare down here. 34 inches from the blizzard.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

When is the last time SLU played a #1 ranked team? Well ... Assuming Quinnipiac will be #1 come Monday of course.

The last time I remember was in the mid 90's when BU came to Canton. They were ranked #1 and we weren't very good. We won 2-0 and I don't think BU has been back since. :)

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

I always read the box scores and I keep wondering why attendance at Appleton seems so low. I recall 3000 in past years, but lately that seems to be halved, even when school is in session. Any thoughts? Is there a new attraction in Canton on the weekends?

My guess, since it seems to be happening more and more, is that they are not counting the students in the attendance figures. There may be more to it than that, but I would guess that is a good place to start.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

That's kind of silly. It is attendance, not paid attendance. My thought is that if I were reading that in Nebraska playing in the USJHL I would think Clarkson, Union and other NY teams get better support. I also read descriptions on the board that say the place was packed etc. so is it really half full or is it fuzzy math as suggested above?

I have a friend who works the back door ticket stand from time to time and I was sure that they couldn't be counting the students in attendance and that was why the attendance figures were down. She confirmed this and stated that they stopped handing out the halved ticket stub to students that walked through the door. They just show their student ID and pass through. They don't count any of them in the attendance figures, only the ones with the half ticket stubs and of course the season ticket holders as well.
