What I'm saying is that you seem to have a soft spot for CC, despite them falling into your stance of "cut 'em if they can't support." So, being that CC is in the NCHC, and is relying on the big schools to survive......just sayin'.

Not to survive, just to get in. (Of course, if it fails, then they'll be a victim, so it goes both ways.) CC the program survives because it chooses to, plain and simple.

But in any case, it helps to have powerful friends. If you don't have them, that's unfortunate, but you don't get to force them either. I have no idea why Alabama-Huntsville has no friends, but I don't see anybody volunteering either.

This is balls. I am not happy about this. When we finish 7th or 8th the first 4 years we're in the NCHC, I would like to hear from the proponents of this move. It would be tough to find a bigger homer than me...but St. Cloud State is NOT a hockey powerhouse (despite what some of our alumni believe). We're gonna get rolled.

Also, now we look like a bunch of tools for doing the exact thing our admin had been chastising UND and DU for over the last two months. It's like they saw that everyone hated someone else and decided they couldn't go 15 minutes without us being the most hated fanbase.

Then again, our admission to the NCHC makes 95% of all UND fans REALLY angry...so that's a plus.

Using the words SCSU and powerhouse in the same sentence is a joke, so you're right about that. It will be interesting to see how the fans feel in a few years after finishing last every year and not having that opportunity to put up win number 2 in the tournament. And you're wrong about the 95% of all UND fans being angry - I'm sure it's much higher than that.

Don't believe I said that. Every program for themselves is not the same thing. Some programs can run in the red, others can't. Some have strong friends, sugar daddies, even, others don't. Fair is not fair, because life is not fair. I think I've been pretty consistent in that.

My belief is that the small schools have sugar daddies (and need them) in the current conferences. You say if they don't survive on their own, too bad. Well if CC can't survive without DU and/or UND, I say let them die, per your standards.

But CC needs DU also, that's what you're missing. CC is the academic heavyweight. These are expensive private schools (I've got the loans to prove it!) - they need that competition, rivalry, link.

I don't mean to be insulting... but the off-the-ice is something that's too often ignored in western/central college hockey, because it's often not relevant. Most of the schools are middle-of-the-road, small state schools (the Big 10 being a major exception, and now gone). DU needs a peer institution, that's CC.

I don't know if sugar daddy is the right word. CC is much wealthier (even at 1/9 the student body size, it has almost double DU's endowment). DU is bigger. And lately, DU has been better. But it's not a sugar daddy relationship... Best frenemies?

It's shocking to me that Mankato and Bemidji don't seem to have any influence on SCSU at all.

Like SCSU, BSU and MSU-M had no influence on tUMD? If you ask SCSU fans, sure we'd like to see BSU and MSU-M taken care of, but tUMD is certainly a bigger partner to us than MSU-M, and BSU is the kid that's only spent one Thanksgiving meal at the big kids table thus far.

Wrong. Again, Jesus, pay attention. SCSU fans in large % don't want the realignment to happen. Everyone goes back to a MN and UW-less WCHA, we're happy. But IF its going to happen, and IF we say no they'll just poach someone else (NMU, BSU, UA_) from the WCHA, then we'll take it rather than be left behind.

As much as I dislike most of the st clown whiners on here I am glad to see the NCHC bring its membership up to 8... the Irish aren't coming and jan was the next best option. I for one wish it had been BSU or Tech though...

You don't have to think we're a powerhouse to support the move to NCHC. I am under no delusions of grandeur about what our program is - it's a middle of the pack, sometimes good, sometimes bad but never great type of program. But you don't grow and expand your program by putting yourself in a soft league. Why can't our program get better and more consistent?

Like most Husky fans I've talked to, I'd love to just go back to the original WCHA (minus MN/WI) but UND/DU made that impossible so at this point I have to hope that our administration looked at this 7 ways to Sunday and came away convinced that going to the NCHC is in the best interest of the program.

In all seriousness, about the most civil and heartfelt post I've seen you make towards our fanbase. Considering the times, and how upset you guys must be as a whole, I'll consider it your attempt at showering us with a welcome basket full of gifts.

I'd already lost the Kohl Center, my favorite building to visit, as a conference destination, and I'm glad we didn't lose the (close) next best one.

I personally believe the rivalry between UND and SCSU will keep getting better with time, but I think that would have started to happen anyhow if NoDak would have stayed in the post big 10 WCHA...

In hockey MAYBE that's the case. UMD is not part of MnSCU. If they have a bigger impact on SCSU, then blow up the entire MNSCU system and quit working together.
