Space exploration: Where do we go from here?

Re: Space exploration: Where do we go from here?

Now that we're within 30 of launch the feed is the smart people. It's interesting.

Weather degrading and we may have a scrub.

But so far, so good- they started loading fuel at T-35.

The only weather thing they are worried about now is lightning. And we will hear that at T-20 or so.

Re: Space exploration: Where do we go from here?

Sounds bad now- if they could wait 10 min, it would be a go, but they can't. 2 more min.

Re: Space exploration: Where do we go from here?

Sounds like the next launch window will be Saturday, 3:22 PM ET.

Re: Space exploration: Where do we go from here?

I was on mobile at work, but was watching via NASA YouTube live stream, no issues.

It was more a joke- they were very slightly different. Seemed like one was ahead of the other. It's amazing that we have the ability of doing that now, when you look at the coverage back 50 years ago.

Hopefully Dump won't be there.

Especially since I will be! Only the fifth time ever that a new US rocket type has launched humans into orbit (Mercury-Atlas, Gemini-Titan II, Apollo-Saturn V, Columbia Space Shuttle, and now Crew Dragon-Falcon 9). I distinctly remember watching the last one in 1981 - they wheeled the AV cart out into the hall of my elementary school so we could all watch on one of the 3 or 4 TVs that the school owned.

Totally jealous. I wanted to go to a shuttle launch, but that bucket list item went unfulfilled. :(

The shuttle was lame. This is cool. I really want to attend one of these someday, as up close and personal as Dr. Mrs.' NASA buddies can get me.

Re: Space exploration: Where do we go from here?

Interesting. On what basis is Crew Dragon cool and the Space Shuttle lame? In orbit, the SS became a mini space station for doing science, repairing satellites, putting new satellites in orbit, etc. Crew Dragon is just a taxicab.

And aren’t you supposed to prefer collective public projects over profit-driven corporate enterprises?
