Softball; Because It's Bigger

Jordy Bahl, one of the top pitchers in college softball who has helped lead Oklahoma to national championships during each of her two seasons on campus, announced Monday that she's leaving the Sooners to "return home."

A sophomore and two-time All-American, Bahl is expected to transfer to Nebraska, sources told ESPN.

Oklahoma's NCAA Division 1-record 71-game winning streak ended Sunday, as visiting Louisiana pulled off a 7-5 upset of the nation's No. 1-ranked team in front of 4,450 fans at Love's Field in Norman.

Quite a few upsets and potential upsets this weekend, but it looks like the one seeds will still come away nearly unscathed. Only Arkansas and Louisiana won’t be moving on, and Arkansas didn’t even make it to the regional final, which is almost unheard of in softball.

Alabama had a couple close ones against USC Upstate and SE Louisiana, but prevailed. Georgia had to beat Liberty twice today including a scoring two in the bottom of the 7th.

Omaha came so close to history. Won their first two against Missouri and Washington and had Missouri down to their last two outs, but ended up losing the first regional final game and then lost the second in extras 1-0. It’s hard to find stats but had they won that might have been the first four seed to make a super regional in softball.

Adjacent, but Cornell baseball is one win from only its third trip to the NC$$s.

I'm not sure we even have a softball team.

Edit: we do, and from 1997 to 2010 they were amazeballs. They suck now (is it okay to say women's sports teams suck?), but here's hoping.

As has been typical of Mike White coached teams in the postseason, Texas seemingly played tense and nervous and barely squeaked by a Texas A&M team that was apparently also doing their best to throw the series away

Texas looked much more composed tonight than last week. Made an error, and a horrible base-running mistake running through a stop sign at third, but their freshman pitcher, who looked extremely nervous last weekend, threw a 1 hit shutout.

Texas' freshman pitcher throws another 1 hit shutout, but this one was a lot scarier. If not for Stanford miscues in the top of the seventh, this game would still be going.

Oklahoma walks off Florida in the bottom of the 8th.

A good ole SWC matchup for the WCWS title. Should be a humdinger!
