Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

You know, with Mikaela Shiffrin being 18, I figured that she would bronze out and return in 2018 with a vengeance. Instead, despite nearly missing a gate on the second run and almost hooking the next one (she cleared that pole by an inch at most), she recovered.

With Vonn's knee looking like toast and Mancuso underachieving, I think US just found the next backbone of the women's team. :D

She actually overachieves at the Olympics. It's always a surprise when she gets a medal at the games considering her normal standing on the circuit.

If anything, Shiffrin will take over for Vonn.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

ok usa hockey has gotten to the point where we have the goaltending to compete. we have guys like trouba and seth jones coming along on d. but look at the gold medal game loss to canada last time, loss to canada yesterday, thus far against finland.

do we have a forward in the pipeline or a couple forwards who can be difference makers and help us get over the hump?

Pittsburgh native Jesse Root? ;)

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I missed the first period so I won't comment on it, but this team looks despondent in the second period, like they're just going through the motions and lacking the emotion shown in prior games. Considering Finland's defensive style, that 20 seconds of stupid probably just gave the Finnish the bronze medal.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

backhanders are tough to read but quick would prob want that one back

doesn't matter, i don't care what the preliminary goal totals were...we don't have what it takes at forward.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Really Bylsma? Oshie didn't show you enough last week! Suter is just going through the motions right now. I've reduced my expectations for a goal. How bout a body check?

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

i think they clarified that the player taking PS had to be on the ice at the time of the infraction

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

... and Finland is doing this without 3 of the elite centers in the world: Koivu, Koivu, and Filppula.

They are giving the classic Finnish effort, and on the big ice, they are playing their game.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Gold medal: Canada/Sweden
Silver medal: Canada/Sweden
Bronze medal: Finland

Also appearing in the tournament were blah, blah, blah....
