Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

They were more physical too. They won far more of the one on one battles.

Some of the US players looked tired the whole game.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Cmon what?
I don't think they are the better team.

They certainly were today.

I believe the difference is in the depth. I can't say for sure, but it seemed like those long sequences when we were pinned in our zone were when our bottom lines were out there.

Should have used Wheeler more. He was a spark once he go out there and we should have mixed up the lines sooner to (try and) generate offense.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I'm getting tired of this. What is it going to take to find a generation of players that can beat Canada in the big game? Because this generation obviously does not have it!

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Typical. They'll probably lose to Sweden after letting down from this one. If you think about it that's one of the things that makes the 1980 team even more amazing. How they didn't have a massive letdown after the Russia game is beyond me.

Herb Brooks, that's how.

Seriously, it took a non-Minnesotan to answer that question? :p :D

Pretty much the outcome I expected. US never had to play anyone until today, and it showed.

Even I knew that right away but didn't want to feed the machine. :p

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Horrible outcome. USA was simply does not have the talent to compete with Canada right now. These guys couldn't do anything offensively.

Just curious did the USA actually have a coach doing anything today? Yeah, we're getting out played badly for half the game but lets not change any lines or try to shake things up. Good call. Also, why the **** wasn't Quick pulled with a little less than 2 minutes when the puck was in deep in the Canada zone? Does it really matter if the loss is by 2 or 1?

If I am an Kings fan then at least I am happy with the way Quick played today and hoping he can carry that play into the playoffs.

Pick more guys from Minnesota and Boston. ;)

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Price and Canada's D won that. Sometimes you just can't get past a hot goalie. It happens.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

So, here's the question: what impact would Bobby Ryan have had?

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I really hope that Stepan, McDonagh, and Cally are all "hurt" for tomorrow's game.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I was having some talk with people who talked about this game being a defining moment for this generation of American players.

And the definition? Good, but not good enough. When the chips are down, they will fold.

Yep. So basically, the core of this group will be back in 2018, and probably finish 7th or 8th - 2006 all over again.
