Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Things have escalated quickly in the Russia/Germany women's hockey game...

4-1 Russia now with under 5 minutes to go...

The Germans had a strong early offensive but the Russians eventually ground them down and rolled over them.

*facepalm*

One of NBC's twitter "experts" that is showing up on the sidebar online, said that in training, most skiers were concerned with the top and bottom sections. Middle section got numerous contenders in the final.

Of course, Bode mentioned that in training, it was perfect conditions, clear skys and great snow. Final was cloudy and a little warmer, so his visibility through the course wasn't as great as the training runs.

The Russians lose a point in the ice dance because a feather fell off the woman's dress at the end. Seriously.

"The light was flat" - man, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard/used that excuse on the slopes. ;)

Lots of improvement for the Japanese women hockey team. Last played in Japan, lost badly in every game- just lost 1-0 to Sweden- and it was darned close there at the end. Nice to see the improvement in play for the rest of the world.

I'm pretty sure that Oakley/Smith/Ziess makes a lens to deal with those types of condition :p

Bode at 8th isn't exactly a dissapointment... Travis Ganong coming in 5th was a great surprise... I'll have to see the runs tonight before I can fully comment on what happened, but I'm not gonna say it was a wasted effort... More surprised at Svindall coming in 4th seems kinda disappointing for him... Also disappointed in Steve Nyman and Marco Sullivan being 3 and 4 seconds off the pace respectively...

Mancuso with a fabulous run in the downhill portion of super combined. Currently .47 seconds ahead of the field, with her biggest competition already having skied this portion.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Disappointing performance for the women's curlers after a promising start. At least I got to go eyeball to eyeball with Carmen Schaffer for ten ends.
