Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

Re: Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

They're showing this ice dancing bull**** again. How long can this horrible non-sport go on? I hope the US loses this crap. I have no interest in my country winning this garbage.

Don't you want to see them twizzle though?

I guess I won't watch the Olympics then. I have no interest if they don't show the stuff that doesn't suck goat sack.

I've watched hockey on tv, streamed hockey on my computer, haven't had a chance to see live curling...that's my Olympic experience so far.

Maybe I misunderstood your original question. Tonight is the last day of ice dancing. The only figure skating event left is women's singles, during which it's socially acceptable to watch scantily clad teenage girls. Your next chance to avoid Olympic ice dancing will be in four years:)

Give over already. It isn't really my thing either but pretty sure you couldn't come close to achieving what those people do on skates. Ask any high level hockey player if they think they can do that stuff and most of them laugh and say no way. Watched some of this stuff yrs ago with some of Mr les team and they were in awe of how they could do what they did on skates.

I mentioned elsewhere: it takes talent, yes. But it's not a sport in my eyes (just like NASCAR) and it should not be in the Olympics. And I'm not watching any of that crap. Any of it that I have mentioned.

Then all these new X-Games events that are subjective and judged shouldn't be in the Olympics either.

Now you tell me. I bought you and your better half some ice dancing lessons as a wedding gift. I also bought you a nice sparkly shirt that will go great with your big belt buckle. Back to plan B........1 year metro pass. :D

Although I'm not a particular fan of ice dancing, only the hardest heart would deny that Meryl and Charlie were anything but brilliant. And richly deserved their gold.

Just because I can't do it, doesn't mean it belongs in the Olympics! That is just a silly argument.

NASCAR I'll grant you. But soccer or basketball? ***, dude?

Yeah I would assume a hockey fan would find at least the basic concept of soccer and basketball more appealing.

All three sports start with two teams defending their "goal" and attacking the other teams. They move an object, principally through intricate (or not so) passing formations and/or "carrying" the object, in an attempt to reach the other goal. The other team attempts to intercept and regain possession.

Basketball and defending their "goal"? I have watched basketball before, unfortunately. I didn't see much for defense.

Also, soccer is like hockey, if you played hockey on a rink the size of a football field, covered in sand, and the players wore 10lb weights on the ankles. edit: also, and if every player dove like Henrik and Daniel.
