SNC Off Season Thread

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

Just wondered if anyone had more info about the Knights trip to Italy? Is it for sure and what are the dates? Does the NCAA regulate additional games prior to a season or is this authorized trip/games? Will it be thus years team, inl graduating seniors or next years team incl fresman? Just curious, have not heard of this type of excursion before .

Between reading into the SNC trip to Italy and Oswego getting all the D-I forward transfers...Is sarcasm a lost art?

You must be getting confused with hockey's alleged trip to Italy with SNC football's actual game in Ireland in 2012.

Prez was quite obviously referring to joecct's post on April 6th, in which he comments on a "news report" that was clearly written on April 1st. It's a joke, hence Prez referring, in the post you quote here, to some comments as showing that sarcasm is becoming "a lost art".

Prez is not stupid enough to believe that the SNC hockey team is actually going to Italy for an audience with His Holiness, nor was he in any way perpetuating that idea with his comment.

Unfortunately, a quirky sense of humor doesn't always play well over the internet - On more than one occasion some of my humor has flown right over people's heads. Fortunately, most of you guys have gotten used to it, and heaven knows you should be used to the Prez...

Sarcastic? Me? NEVER! :) :D

I know, I get it. But you are apparently an overofficious easterner who needs to pull the stick out of where the sun doesn't shine who also has a compulsive need along with others to run up their post totals without saying anything constructive.

Takes a seat and sits back, waiting to enjoy the performance that is about to follow...

I'll combine my response to this with "something constructive", in order to avoid "running up my post totals". (Oh, and please actually read this post in it's entirety before you respond)

Post totals mean almost nothing to me, just so you know. To be honest, until you brought it up, I didn't realize I'd passed 2,000. When I look at post totals, it is because somebody is trolling a bit. I look because if they have a very small amount of posts over at least a year, that means we won't have to put up with it very long because they're not consistent enough to even worry about. That's the only reason I ever look at post totals.

You are definitely taking all of this way too seriously. If you get that he was joking, why make the comment at all?

-------------------------

Anyway, now to be "constructive"...

When we last left our regularly-scheduled SNC-related discussion, you were bringing up the football team's upcoming trip to Ireland. Wonderful! I hope they enjoy this experience! Europe is amazing, and I've heard Dublin is one heck of a city to party in! (There's a reason they call it the "Pub CRAWL") ;)

I just hope nobody thinks this is important to anybody other than the players involved and their direct families, and maybe the recruiting duties of the coaching staff. An NCAA DIII game highlighting a showcase of American Football attended by fans of Association Football, Rugby (both Union and League), Gaelic Football, and Hurling. A couple American High School games, and a DIII game. Sounds like a spectacular showcase of talent to try to popularize the sport in Ireland. Booking my flight to Dublin now!

Methinks the players' experience on the Pub Crawl with those High Schoolers (some of whom are actually of legal drinking age on this side of the pond) may end up being the most important part of this trip. Such team bonding! (oh, and I'm sure the coaches will be recruiting!) :D

--------------------------------

And now that I've responded to attitude with attitude, I can give an honest addition to the blunt statement above... I will probably pay attention to how this football game in Dublin goes. It is, in fact, a wonderful experience for everybody involved. I will quietly be supporting the Green Knights on that trip, partly because of the hockey connection, but also partly because my interactions with SNC fans (and employees) here on USCHO and in Herb brooks Arena in 2008 and 2010, although not without the few bumbling idiots every program has (even Plattsburgh and Elmira), has left me with a great respect for SNC Athletics, and the school itself. Over the last 4 years I've developed a bit of a soft spot for Adrian, but when it comes to the West Region in DIII Hockey, St. Norbert would probably be my #2.

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

Got a link for that?

If not, by performance do you mean more rallying by people who generally don't know what they are talking about? If so you might be on to something.

The performances I speak of are those of the 'veterans' that are on this board when they respond to someone idiotic comment, especially when they have less than, let's say 50 posts. I enjoy picturing their comments when a rookie inserts their foot in mouth and says something like....

"But you are apparently an overofficious easterner who needs to pull the stick out of where the sun doesn't shine who also has a compulsive need along with others to run up their post totals without saying anything constructive. "

It is so obvious those posters that have been around for quite a while and I can assure Sir Nubs (and all others alike) that CARDS_rule_the_Burgh, while he may be considered... (insert word of choice here)... for rooting for the Cardinals, has offered many 'constructive' posts of his 2,075 posts. Even before I made a screen name and was one of the 'stalkers' on this board, it was pretty obvious who knew their stuff and who did not. Unfortunately, not all of the 'stalkers' are able to catch on like I did.

I've been around far longer than you can possibly fathom - probably since you were still soiling your Pampers. If you think my post count is indicative of my knowledge of D3 hockey than the joke is on you. This is just a microcosm of the deterioration of American society. Try to hold some accountability and the one calling those out is the jerk because he doesn't have a high post count. If it weren't so sad I'd laugh. I guess I will have to post more often so I can become an "expert."

Word is out that the Green Knights will be getting a d-1 trasfer from the CCHA between the pipes.

They are putting a great deal together for him. Sounds a lot like the same deal that Obrien got.

The rich get richer. The Yankees of D-3 hockey!

Yep. Two years $11 million.

Get some proof of these great deals or shut up and go away.

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

Ask OB why he came to SNC. It was not for the education and was not because it cost him 20 k like most players pay as most pirvate colleges.

Lets just say he did not pay much at SNC, and he was not a 4.0 coming in.

It is great that SNC has such outstanding academic awards and that a marginal student trasfering from a marginal d-1 academic school, could get such a great academic award.

Good for them, but I wonder how many 3.0 or below kids at SNC are getting the same academic money as OB got? Not many. You can be sure of that. If that was the case the College would be out of money!
