SNC 2017-18 Season Thread

Re: SNC 2017-18 Season Thread

Three days of practice in the books. Any updates on the team this year? Lost 4 forwards, 1 defenseman, and a goalie. How are the new guys?

10 new freshmen, 7 F, 2 D and 1 goalie....lost Larson...apparently transferred to a MIAC school.
Couple of the new forwards are around 6', rest are 5' 9" - 5' 10" range and very fast..
Two new D are well over 6'....new goalie is nearly 6'...
Overall, one of the fastest groups that SNC has brought in....

Yes, for sure. I imagine Tim Coghlin is on that, but human nature is human nature.

And Adrian plays Finlandia the night before traveling 6 hours to play SNC. Another potential trap?

My guess is both teams are specifically focusing on Friday night and then come Saturday, let it all hang out. This won't be the only time these two teams play this season.

I got a live look at Adrian last Saturday versus Marian...they totally dominated the Sabres...have a strong, veteran group...plenty of experience up and down the roster.
SNC looked good last weekend...five freshmen in the lineup both nights...Sacco and Bates really brought some energy to the #1 power play line...

Research question for Dan Lukes -- when was the last time that SNC had a losing record at any point during a season?

St. Norbert was last below .500 when they were 1-2 on Nov. 5, 2004. Split with RIT to open the year and then lost at St. Thomas. The Green Knights then went 23-0-3 in their next 26 games.

St. Norbert was also 2-3 on Nov. 12, 1999. More than five games into a season, the last time was the 1995-96 season - a 12-13-3 finish. St. Norbert went 9-3 in its last 12 that year though, which was Tim Coghlin's third season.

11 - 0 - 1 at the break... 7 - 0 versus ranked opponents.
Great start to the season...Black has been great in net...and getting contribution up and down the lineup.

Adrian is all that. They look a lot like SNC, only more upperclassmen. Every team is still in and nobody's out until February. Let's enjoy the WJC over the break and before you know it the DIII season will be right back at it. Only 6 weeks worth to NCHA playoffs.
