SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

Was able to watch Nick play this past weekend. While not getting a TON of ice time, he is dressing and playing in nearly every game. The times he was on the ice, he seemed to be playing well. Was in position and did not seem to let the speed and size of other players (most former D-I players) be a large factor. Bottom line, he looked like he belonged.

One thing I've noticed about the echl is that they really do try to give the newcomers a chance to play. They seem to discourage the 36 year old career AA pro hockey players. In fact, in most of the echl games I've seen both teams had only 15 skaters and two goal tenders dressed..

Congrats to Coach Coghlin, the rest of the staff and the entire team on clinching at least a share of yet another NCHA regular season title. And thank you!

It may be time to take up a collection, buy another trophy, donate it to the conference for the regular season and name it for Coach Coghlin...

Great effort tonight. Took advantage of Point penalties to notch five pp goals.
Despite a season with many ups and downs, the coaches and entire team held together to clinch at least a share of the NCHA regular season title!!

Nice 8 goal output. Congrats to the team on yet another NCHA title. Bring it home solo in style tomorrow night with a convincing win!

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

Congrats to team, coaches, and all associated with SNC on the NCHA season championship. The 13th under Coach Coghlin! The team seems to be really putting all of the pieces together for a championship run for the Peter's Cup and hopefully defense of their National Champion status.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

I remember the early days of SNC hockey when they were regularly pounded in the NCHA. Now after 19 years with Coghlin, 13 NCHA championships. Amazing!

The offense sure has picked up. I am still a little concerned about goal tending and the defense. It looked like Higgins did not play over the weekend. He will be needed for the playoffs.

While the D has been shaky at best during the season goaltending is not an issue. Yes Jake gave up a soft goal 5hole last night, but he has saved the D's but more than anyone would care to imagine. SNC will not have a goalie issue until the 15-16 season.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

I agree. Jake hasn't been perfect, but he's a freshman. His numbers are very good, and he's only going to get better. I think they've got a good one there.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

Terrific effort down the stretch for this team. With all they lost to graduation and how they were looking 2 months ago I would never have guessed this squad would hang 3 banners this year. They should just go out to Lake Placid and just have fun playing hockey and see what happens. They shouldn't feel pressure to repeat because this is a young squad I expect to be even better next season and probably the year after that.

This season will go down in SNC history as one the best coaching efforts by Tim C., AJ and staff.
With the major roster shakeup, the team struggled to find the right player mix in the first half of the season.
Once Jake won the fulltime goalie job, things started to gell in front of him.
Great to see the development of the frosh/soph classes down the stretch!!

Pete,
I'm going to Lake Placid. Can you tell me if they do anything to group fans together? Would be fun to sit with other St Norbert fans.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

When we were out there in 2008 they had designated sections but several of us just stood and watched from the concourse. It's big enough it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

Trying to decide if I can ditch a St. Patty's Day party and make it to The Abbey to watch with other SNC fans. Who was there today and who plans on being there tomorrow?
