Re: SLU 2009-2010 Season
NJ has put Mike McKenna on waivers.

The Devils have signed goaltender Mike McKenna, who has been playing in Lowell, to a two-way contract and placed him on waivers, so he can be reassigned to Lowell. McKenna, who attended training camp as a tryout and was previously on an AHL contract, is 16-9-2-2 with a 2.29 goals-against average and .927 save percentage in Lowell.
“We wanted to have another goaltender under contract for depth,” Lamoriello explained.
If McKenna, 26, clears waivers without being claimed by another team, the Devils will have four goaltenders in the organization that are eligible to play in the NHL—Martin Brodeur, Yann Danis, Jeff Frazee and McKenna.
Ah, it sounded kinda confusing because he's had a good year in Lowell so far, but I couldn't find anything else this morning on it. Good to hear, however it might be tough for him to get a look in the Devils organization unless Marty retires... ever.
Good news from Dan, Saint's fans:
Flanny is "probable" to come back this weekend. Obviously he's a catalyst on the PP and offensively, so getting him back would be huge.
J. Keller has returned home to SK for the week to rest his brain in the hopes of getting past the post-concussion syndrome. Derek said he had no headaches/light headedness for most of the day Tuesday.
Hurley says Greg Carey has an "NHL-Ready shot, and loves to use it." If true, that's scary.
Knock on him was his skating, but as long as he gets there. Knock on Mike McKenzie was skating too, but his skating is so much better now and you gotta love his skill, scoring touch, hands, shot and competitiveness....you can't teach certain things such as scoring.
Trust me Tim, we know your pain!I expected this team to have some ups and downs, but that was nothing short of embarrassing.
Back on home ice, with their star freshman forward back in the lineup, against a desperate team chasing them in the standings, and they come up with . . . that?????????????????

At least you can't blame Kotyra! No energy, **** poor effort, no chemistry and just nothing working.
At least you can't blame Kotyra! We tried to let the Saints back in the game all night.

Absolutely shameful to play a game that poorly at this important juncture of the season. I sure hope we haven't run out of steam at the start of the stretch run.
Can't say too much about the officiating, as I only saw a few of the penalties called. There didn't seem to be any real phantom calls, and nobody really complained much about anything.
There were a couple that bugged me a bit. Somebody - I think it was Caister - got tripped behind the Q net while SLU was on a PP and it wasn't called. But it was probably SLU's 4th power play, and they weren't doing squat with their chances anyway. I expect that to be let go sometimes, and it wouldn't have mattered.
The other one was worse. It was 1-0 or 2-0 at the time. SLU was shorthanded and Carden carried the puck into the Q zone. One of their D skated up directly behind him and pulled his skates out from under him, dumping him right on his face. No call. Quinnipiac picked up the puck, skated into the SLU zone, and ended up scoring.
As we've already agreed, nothing would have changed the fact that SLU for some reason decided not to show up last night. Quinnipiac wanted it more, played better, deserved to win, and almost certainly would have won even if we'd gotten every call we wanted.
Gotta win today.
