Signs of the Apocalypse

Re: Signs of the Apocalypse

Trashers (0) - 2000 - 10 years ...Never Been in Final
Wild (0) - 2000 - 10 years ...Never Been in Final

Add Blue Jackets to that list with the last two teams ...

Blue Jackets (0) - 2000 - 10 years ...Never Been in Final

Heck, it took the CBJ until the 2008-09 season just to make the playoffs. Talk about futility!

Don't sweat it....you have an excellant coach heading your way in Scott Arniel. Excellant choice by the Blue Jacket organization!

Yeah, I think we are on the way to being a legitimate playoff contender. From what I hear down here, it sounds like we got a good one. Sure would like to see the Nasher and Umberger get to hoist the Stanley Cup someday! I got to listen to a good portion of Scott Arniel's press conference the other day when they announced the hiring and I was impressed. He believes there is a lot of talent here and that we can win right away. I think the Jackets are a couple more defensemen and another consistent scoring threat to go with Nash away from being really good. I look at the Jackets and their lineup versus the team that just won the Stanley Cup with all their scorers and it doesn't seem close to me. I think the Jackets got a great coach and I think he will get them going in the right direction, but personnel-wise, I don't think we're there yet. Maybe they will prove me wrong, but I think we're still missing some pieces. I do think we have a good GM in Scott Howson and I am sure he will do everything he can to get those pieces in place.

He was on that great Royals team in the early 80's with other NHL greats Gilmour, Hawerchuk, Sheppard, Daoust and Marc Crawford. Doug Carpenter was the coach. They won the Mem Cup twice in a row, something that happens rarely. Although Windsor did repeat this year.

Arniel is originally from Kingston so...Grapes will like him right away.

When he was still with the Cornwall Royals he played in the 82' World Juniors which was Canada's first Gold Medal. I first saw him play in the early 80's with the Winnipeg Jets, Tall (6'1" 190 lbs.), rangey and a good pair of mitts. His coaching stint's have taken him through the Houston Aero's, Manitoba Moose and the Buffalo Sabres.

Sometimes good players do make good coaches. :)

Re: Signs of the Apocalypse

Strike you funny at all that both Rossi and Carcillo are Italians....

Where I come from we are not that fond of the boring Italian defensive style football or their antics. I grew up with the school of hard knocks and run and gun style of soccer, entertaining, and no antics. If you are hurt, just get up and keep going. Nursed plenty of bruises over the years from tackling defenders. Still some proof of that visible on my knees today. Part of the game.

Doesn't it all seem a little ironic to you that his pal Dino is from Sarnia, Ontario...Canada?

Can you imagine that.....Bi-PolarBear sticking up for Canadians. :D When he finds this out, he'll be spinning around in that hole so fast, he might end up in China. :D Ironic indeed. :D What a knob.......
