She really flattened 'em, didn't she? Sadly, I'm thinking many younger people have never heard of her, let alone heard her. It's their loss. That performance at Newport is stunning. She was very ill and IIRC died within a year or so. There are several of her versions of "Just a closer walk" on You Tube, but that's the one that gives me chills. Music is wonderful in that it bypasses whatever particular language is being used to invoke spirit and directly hits the vein. Religious music in particular is incredibly powerful even if you don't understand the words or even the culture it comes from. Thanks again.
