Shillelagh Tournament Thread (BU, Brown, Notre Dame, Minnesota St)

Re: Shillelagh Tournament Thread (BU, Brown, Notre Dame, Minnesota St)

If BU makes the NCAAs this year I'll take Carmine, SteveF, and the rest out to dinner.

While I always enjoy the hockey, I loathe this place. Middle of BFE with the announcer from Hell. Should the tourney continue, it will be played at ND's new arena, although I have heard nothing about its future.

That announcer is perfect for their new ECHL team (that is not a compliment). What I wonder is... is the concession stand open RIGHT NOW???? ;)

and is ND's new arena going to show replays? because that would have been nice at this arena. :p :)

Mankato looked pretty good. Congrats to them.

Don't know about replays. When it comes to close calls or penalties, I've found that most college games don't replay them...

The PA guy (who has been the same moron all 3 years) the first year read the times of goals and penalties directly from the clock. If a goal was scored 6:18 in (meaning the clock showed 13:42 left), he gave the time as 13:42. This year he was mispronouncing MSUM's Galiardi (and the MSUM fans behind me let him know on several occasions). All 3 years he has proven that he has yet to pass grammar 101 by asking, "Is there any Terrier fans in the house?!" IS there A Terrier fan? Yes. ARE there ANY Terrier fans? Yes, there were more than one, they travel well.

And if he's good for ECHL games, I'll stick with college...

Anyhoo, congrats to MSUM and Brown for bringing some of us back down to earth.

I'm referring to ANY kind of replay. If there was a great save on the other end where I can't see clearly, I want to see a replay. If I missed the goal right in front of me because the BEER WATER guy was in my way, I want to see a replay. If there's a video screen, I would expect it to have replays.

Regarding replays, at Agganis at least, this season they have been much better about showing replays, even on contentious calls, than they were in the previous two seasons.

The video screen and whoever ran it left much to be desired. The video quality looked like it was from a color TV set from 30 years ago with rabbit ears for antenna. They cut some of the video commercials off. It was comical. There was only 1 camera providing the feed. Also, there were TV timeouts, which I found odd, given that I thought there was no tv coverage.

That's a CCHA thing concerning all league and league-hosted games. Evens the playing field for teams that don't get t.v. exposure and the benefit of putting your first line back on the ice after a timeout.

Re: Shillelagh Tournament Thread (BU, Brown, Notre Dame, Minnesota St)

I forgot that not everyone uses the officials timeouts. I thought it was weird when at one point during the champ game, Brown lined up for a faceoff while MSU just skated to the bench.
