how about the geese...willing to sit around but come to close and they charge you. :rolleyes: just kidding, but I just remember a few times getting chased or hissed at by them on campus. Do they really need a mascot...I think they are fine without one. Cortland's dragon has not proved to help them out much.

With a helm (ship's steering wheel) as your logo, a mascot dressed in the historical garb of a Great Lakes sailing ship’s captain might work.

You're getting very dang close Remy. Heck, I'd send it to the powers to be at Oswego. I think it's solid. The only thing is the Gortons fisherman is probably copyrighted.

This is great more people writting about the Lakers mascot than actual Laker fans. There was a contest in the late 80's about the mascot and nothing came of it. The same ideas were floated then too. Sometimes things are just meant to be left as they are. If it's not broke don't fix it.

It seems like they do one every few years and you're right, nothing comes of it. There were at least two done while I was at Oswego as well as two mascot competitions.

Personally, I'd like it if they returned to the anchor days but I've been told administration isn't a fan of the anchor. Why i don't know but was always a fan of Oswego's anchor jerseys and Lake Superior State's.
