Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Some of my favorites from DI hockey.

Penalty announcement (keep in mind I don't think this guy sucks, just using him as an example)

Plattsburgh penalty on 24 Dylan Clarke (Crowd yells SUCKS). 2 minutes for (SUCKING)

Or when a team kills off a penalty Plattsburgh returns to full strength.. BUT THEY STILL SUCK D**K!

You know, these kids are getting a pretty good eddication that should be expanding their vocabulary. Vulgarity should be discouraged. Creativity should be encouraged. For example, Cornell fans (a creative lot to be sure) would taunt the opposition goalie when he went for a stroll at a stoppage with "skate skate skate, turn, skate skate skate skate skate, turn, skate skate skate, stop, turn, BEND OVER". Nothing vulgar there and it shows that they're actually profiting from the $50,000 education they are getting.

Me, at the end of the Power Play, I'd have the sound of a toilet flushing.

The same fans who show how classy they are by yelling SUCKS when the word night is yelled during the national anthem to get a jab in at Clarkson. :D

I really want a new goal song. Zombie Nation is getting old. I love Crowd Chant as the goal song, but it is a good intro song to the players coming out onto the ice. They just need to play the whole song, they play about 30 seconds of it and that's just a tease.

Yeah, about that (I'm not going to knock Zombie or Crowd, they're both pretty good) - is there a policy in the SUNYAC as far as goal horns are concerned? It goes without saying that the goal horn at the CC is part of the opening of Zombie Nation over the PA system. Whats to keep OSU from getting one of the real noise makers (theoretically speaking)?

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

No doubt one wet-nosed man couldn't stand such a development - I'll rephrase the question then. For ANY SUNYAC team, Plattsburgh, Brockport, Oswego, etc.; regardless of personal schools with their fun-killing athletic directors, are they aloud to erect a train/ship horn for goal celebrations without violating any conference policies?

It'd be sick if Oswego built some sort of minature ship with a horn like Tampa Bay has at Raymond James Stadium with the cannons.

Really, I always thought the devices above the scoreboard were the horns. Oh well! Going back to last week, is it NCAA/SUNYAC policy that there be nothing thrown on the ice, such as a hat for a HAT TRICK, or is it the individual school policy of not having hats thrown on the ice for a HOCKEY tradition called a HAT TRICK? If so, it's a wonder they allow cheers.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

As any Plattsburgh or Oswego fan should know, it's an NCAA rule that the first instance of objects being thrown on the ice in a game results in a warning over the PA system, and all further instances result in a delay of game penalty. The SUNYAC and the individual schools have no say in the matter.

And to go one step further, its actually still at the reffs descretion. The reffs can allow it if they so choose, but normally before a PSU/OSU game the warning is given prior to the game. Hense if you look back about 7 years ago, St.Screwus (I believe it was) gave Plattsburgh a penalty after the first tennis ball hit the ice. There was no warning and it was the first time a penalty had been given after the first toss...

The school had an actual goal horn at the beginning of last year. However, someone left it plugged in and blew it up. The blue line club won't pay for a new one so it is up to Hale to front the bill and we all know his cheapass wont do it.

But the bigger question is when will the gag order be lifted on the wnyo media members from posting on the board?

I see you refer to this gag order from time to time...who, what, when, where, why? I can't imagine posting here can be any worse than the F-bombs :eek::eek: that are routinely dropped during the course of a broadcast day and a sports talk program that will remain nameless....:D

So there was one - I had no idea.

I shall therefore vow upon this thread that If I should happen to hit the big time in the future, I will personally purchase a new horn for OSU (if they want it).:D

Better yet, a ships cannon that blows out cool smoke rings when fired. Doesn't Oswego have ROTC? They must have a couple cannon...

SUNY Oswego does not directly have an ROTC program, but does offer Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC programs through a partnership with Syracuse University.
