Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

Re: Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

At Paddy Power.com, bets on the next pope and papal name. Peter II is now even money. *shakes head*

If somehow they were to pick a Pope from south of the equator (Africa, South America), "Peter II" might actually be a decent fit. Not so for another Italian job though.

Specifically, Peter the Roman, isn't it?

Petrus Romanus, qui paſcet oues in multis tribulationibus: quibus tranſactis ciuitas ſepticollis diruetur, & Iudex tremẽdus iudicabit populum ſuum. Finis.

(Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End.

joecct, you'd probably enjoy this link.

It's the "blue-collar next pope indicator" way to handicap the field.

Can we get Gus Johnson to call the Conclave?

"Cardinal with the ballots, to the chimney...rise and FIIIIIIIIRE...OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WHITE SMOKE! WHITE SMOKE! HABEMUS PAPAM! THE SLIPPER STILL FITS! INSTANT CLASSIC!"

Re: Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

Since there is no pope, can I have prime rib today?

One of the benefits of not being Catholic is I can eat whatever the heck I want whenever I want. :)

No -- and you know better to ask. The Church is not the Pope. He is the Servant of the Servants of God.

However, if St. Patty's Day falls on a Friday, a dispensation, dating back to either Pius XI or XII, does exist.
